Dossett Dental is one shady practice.\r Dossett Dental is one shady practice. My friend warned me several times to avoid this place but, I wanted to prove him wrong. I wish I had listened. Forget the good reviews you see. I believe they're posting themselves. Here's my experience. You be the judge! \r \r I went in for a routine dental cleaning. I met with a very nice Doctor, Dr. Clark. He took some xrays and told me that I had a nice ""perfect teeth"" because my wisdom teeth needed not removed, unlike some people according to him. Then a few mins later, a middle eastern lady named Afsaneh walked in for the cleaning part. He insisted that I get a ""deep cleaning"" as well as have my wisdom teeth removed???? I said heck NO! I just wanted a regular teeth cleaning. She said it won't cost me anything. She will just bill the insurance. I said NOPE! Fast forward, few weeks later, their claim to my insurance is $620 for ""Scaling/ Root Planing - Per Quad"" This is just fraud!!! more

Not sure about this Dossett Dental, but writing about the one on Arapaho - I AM A DENTIST, so please read closely. So I went in to Dossett Dental to get my Groupon redeemed for an exam, xrays, and whitening. Was taken in - had xrays done, and then they hygienist came in. She said that I needed a deep cleaning. Before the dentist came to see me, the office manager, Fariba Dodgostar, came in and saw me and said that it would cost me $850. I didn't consent by signature, not even verbally, and the hygienist was about to start the deep cleaning on me when I said that I didn't want it because of the cost. This was ALL before I saw the dentist. Then the dentist came and told me I needed a filling replaced with a ""build up"" and crown. Then when I asked about the whitening I had paid for with the groupon, they said that in the groupon, it said if I needed a deep cleaning, that they couldn't do the whitening. So they basically charged me $100 for an exam and xrays - something that they offer for free anyways (http://www.dossettdental.com/) What I failed to tell them was THAT I'M A DENTIST. Me needing a deep cleaning is an ABSOLUTE LIE. Secondly, a hygienist CAN'T diagnose that I need a deep cleaning. Texas Occupation Code 262.151 - ""the dental hygienist does not: (A) diagnose a dental disease or ailment; (B) prescribe a treatment or a regimen;"". Also Dr. Susan Koo stating that I need to have my filling replaced with a build-up and crown is over-treatment as well. And I don't need to have my ""deep cleaning done"" before I get a whitening. This is obviously just a tactic for them to get people in the door and see what idiot doesn't look into their treatment planning, and just pays them for extra, unnecessary treatment. Hell, at my office, if someone paid $900 for a not deep cleaning, I would give them a free whitening too. Needless to say I got a refund on my groupon and I am reporting them to the dental board.... more

My girlfriend went for cleaning and exam at Dossett Dental in 2011 at their location on Araphao and Hillcrest. The dentist, a Korean lady named Susan Koo, said my girlfriend needed deep cleaning, a crown, and a bridge. She then sent my girlfriend out to talk with the office manager about the cost. The office manager, a lady named Fariba Dadgostar, told her the deep cleaning would be $900. She then went on to tell her that she needed the deep cleaning because she had a gum infection and that her lower jaw would rot away if she did not get the deep cleaning. The dentist never mentioned she had a gum infection or anything about her lower jaw rotting away. My girlfriend told her she just wanted the regular cleaning and exam and that was all. Fariba told her they would not do regular cleaning, only the deep cleaning for $900. I could not believe what I was hearing; the office manager was making decisions regarding her medical treatment. This middle-eastern lady was not a dentist, not even a dental assistant, and here she was making medical decisions. I then became very irritated at what I was hearing and asked Fariba if I could speak to the dentist. She said that I could not. I told her my girlfriend wanted just the regular cleaning. Fariba said they would only do the deep cleaning and refused to do the regular cleaning. We left the place in disgust. About a week later we went to another dentist and this dentist told her she did not need deep cleaning at all and that she did not have a gum infection. They did the regular cleaning and exam and everything was fine. I was really angry about what we had experienced at Dossett Dental as they were just trying to rip us off. I filed a compliant with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. A lady from their office called me and said she could not believe that they refused to do a regular cleaning. They are investigating the matter at the time of this posting and apparently they have had numerous complaints against Dossett Dental. I would recommend everyone to avoid Dossett Dental as they will try to rip you off too. I also spoke to my dentist about deep cleaning and he said it was rarely needed. I believe something should be done to stop this unethical practice and hope the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners does something. more

I had a toothache that at the same time was giving me a headache. Dossett Dental was opened on Saturday and was able to get me an appointment right away. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They even helped me by watching my kids. more
