Dorwart's Garage

I had taken my truck for service to Dorwart’s garage. I had started using them for my repairs based on a recommendation. I am satisfied with their service; the part I am unsatisfied with is the mark up of the parts they get for you. I had a starter problem and was going to change it with a friend but plans changed and I called Dorwart’s for the job. As I was researching parts, the quotes I got were from 114.00 to 160.00. I got the repair done (the same day) and with Thanksgiving errands to do, I paid for the repairs and left without looking at the invoice. Later that weekend as I was reconciling my receipts with my accounts I noticed I was charged 317.51 for a 159.00 starter, that’s 158.51 markup or 99.7%!!! Imagine my surprise. I went to the garage the following Monday after Thanksgiving to find out if it was a mistake and was offered that it was a new part and a markup is expected when they get the parts. After asking if almost 100% markup is normal the gentleman behind the counter went to find Jim and came back and told me “It is what it is.” Hindsight being 20/20, I should have checked everything before I left the garage, I shouldn’t have become complacent over the period of time I used them and I expected the same good customer service I had experienced in the past, but I guess it is what it is. Fool me once shame on you but I won’t give them a chance to fool me twice. more
