that place is awesome... went there few times on the weekends, it was packed, food is amazing, cocktails are delicious, be careful, you can try too much :) sake list is huge, ask the server, you can get lost.\r \r also i forgot my purse there once and they actually had it next day, made a great impression. :)\r \r heard they also do nakedsushi parties, but have to call and ask them more about it, but sounds like a plan :) Pros: emperor roll Cons: no outside sittings yet :( more

Great for people watching! 11/17/2006

I have dined here several times. Having been a sushi eater for 23 plus years I tend to be very picky. Unfortunately rarely do sushi restaurants wow me. This one tries hard to so I credit them for that. While serving all the basic rolls and fish they have done a few signature rolls that look good utilizing multi colored roe. The rolls are decent sized but he sushi cuts were not as fat as I like them. The service is good and it is a great spot to people watch on Lincoln Rd! Pros: Great people watching! Decent sushi more

Fun sushi place 11/2/2006

I enjoy Doraku for the whimsical decor and the original sushi and cocktail creations. As toehrs have mentioned the rolls are pricey but they are also huge so you don't need to order as much quantity as you would normally. more

Very pleased with 7pm dinner 5/11/2006

I'd go back again next time in Miami just to see the gorgeous server again. No attitudes on display, they appreciate their customers. Doraku is a great Sushi place. The rolls are incredible and while they may seem pricey they are large and filling. Doraku is also the king of sake. The ambiance is wonderful its lively enough to make you want to come back but still quaint enough to have a nice evening out with that special someone. this little place is fantastic! While the price may seem higher than in other sushi places, the size of rolls and quality definitely compensate for that. Nobu Minus Attitude/Price 2/23/2004

Wow...I've finally found a perfect date place! The atmoshpere is awesome. The lounge music is relaxing and the ambiance is mellow. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent, surprisingly tastier and cheaper than Nobu which was a nice change. Halfway through our meal, I realized that there was this gigantic pulsating octopus hanging over our heads behind a bamboo screen! Very Cool. We had drinks after our meal and the bartender made the best mojito I've had in SOBE. He chatted with us for thirty minutes. If you go to Doraku, congratulate him on his upcoming marriage. I think it's silly that Benihana's son decides to make a restaurant that is based off of Japanese Anime and Cartoons. The location itself is silly, right between the movies and an ice cream store, overlooking a parking lot. In general nothing makes sense about the restaurant and the food is not up to par for what experienced people can call 'good'. In the end there are those that actually want to a menu consisting of 20 different sake's and 'Dragon Ball Z' characters overlooking you. more

Sometimes you just have to pay for sushi 4/28/2003

Went here the first week of January the food, atmosphere and service were able to offset my less than stellar company. The bartender was friendly and gave great recommendations as to the night life and the waitress was quite attentive once i sat down to eat. Make no fish bones about it, this is a pricy place that has both high priced saki and expensive sushi. If you don't mind makind the investment and actually want your date to know how much you are throwing down, this is definitely a place to go. Pros: sushi, bartending, service Cons: pricy, pricy, pricy more

I am Japanese. Food was delicious. But I think the price is too high for them. I know we have to pay for the area and atmosphere. But it is still too expensive for those foods. If you want to enjoy only Japanese foods, you could find other nice delicious restaurant. more

Yes it is a very trendy lil' spot but the food is simply the best. Joe the chef is not kidding around. Everything is extremely fresh. My girlfriends and I will come back soon for another Doraku Gimmlet(yummy) ! more

Undiscovered Gem 6/12/2002

Great original sushi creations as well as solid execution on the standards. More of a bar that serves sushi than a sushi bar. Very casual environment, good music, good times. A great place if you're looking for great sushi in a nice but unpretentious setting. more
