Being a hairstylist myself, I have always cut my children's hair. However, I am new to Seattle, and heard about Dooz. from another salon. I thought since they are experts in cutting kids hair (which I can tell you is totally different from adults), that I would give them a try. And I am THRILLED that I did! The short drive over the bridge to Mercer Island was super easy. You can take the carpool lane, and the salon is right on the other side. There is free covered parking in the brand new building. When you get to Dooz, it is clear to see that they know and love kids. The entire place is kid-friendly and inviting. They play jazzy music, hand out stickers and tattoos (no candy which I really appreciated), and keep the kids engaged the whole time. The mirrors have color changing lights and play movies behind them. There is a prize machine that gives out an age and gender appropriate prize, and a cute personal voice message to each kid at the end of each cut. The stylists absolutely know how to deal with kids hair, as well as kids who may be afraid of cuts. One child even came in tears, and when it was all over, did not want to leave! I went home with some great products, which I know work wonders on kids hair. They also have a great selection of kids toys, which people were grabbing for birthday parties (another service Dooz salon offers)! Apparently they gift wrap, and if you are on the go you can even call ahead and they will pick an appropriate present, wrap it, and bring it out to your car! My son goes to Dooz next, and I was pleased to discover that they are open until 8:00pm on weekdays. Dooz is a fantastic package, and I couldn't be happier I discovered it. Bonus- The cute little wine bar/restaurant right next door, Cellar 46, is actually kid-friendly! We stoppped in for a grilled cheese sandwich from the kids menu, and they were just as fantastic as Dooz! All in all, a great trip to Mercer Island that we can't wait to make again!
Pros: Atmosphere, easy parking, kid-friendly, east to get to, clean
