After a Saturday of shopping around Baton Rouge, the family (4 adults) decided to stop at the this Don's Hut place in Denham Springs for 8pm dinner. Linda and I decided on the 13 oz ribeye and the kids had seafood. Many places the 12 oz is plenty, but I usually get a 14 oz. We eat steaks ever Saturday night and it's a guilty pleasure to travel the Florida Parishes looking for the best steak. Right now, Mike's in Franklinton, and the two Caboose location lead the pack and that's after ten years of doing it. Our little server was nice and he did a good job. The Hammond Don's serves steaks, a porter house, which are faily thin. The menue list a 9 oz and the giant 13 oz steaks. When our steaks arrived, I couldn't believe my eyes. the streak was to be med. well. I swear, it was just a little larger than one of those hamburger patties of a 99 cent burger. Med. well was out of the question. Any piece of meat that small would be well done if left on the grill over ten seconds on each side. I voiced my complaint to one of the supervisors to no avail. For $23 per steak, I expect a Caboose or MIke's quality steak. Don's in DS can't cut the mustard. Our bill was $117 plus tip. Don's Big steak!!!! Liar, Liar, pants on fire. Ripped off again! I'll move on and I'll never stop at Don's in DS and don't you be suckered in. Warning, eaters beware!
Pros: thumbs and toes down! No pros!!!!
Cons: They are the cons!
