I really enjoy this place. People are nice, staff is nice, food is tasty, excellent by comparison of other close by restaurants. I would go back. more

OK but not as good as it use to be 5/19/2009

Good: I liked the choice of beers. Bad: The waiter we had was not good at all. Tried to hurry us up by constantly coming over to see if we were ready to order. We finally told him we would call him when we were ready. He didn't seem to like that to much as he told us it was taking up one of his tables which makes him lose out on tips. I thought that was rude.. Improvements: The owner is very loud. The whole building shakes when he goes upstairs. The woman manager who is very young and talks about all the people that work there with the customers which I felt was very disrespectful.. Other: They use to have other waitresses there that were alot better then who is there now. The guy bartender (Chris) thinks he's better then everyone else and gives woman better service then the men.. more

Not a bad addition to downtown Fairport 9/3/2006

Donnelly’s Public House Fairport, NY Donnelly’s is tucked back off of Main Street Fairport right on the train line. As you walk in, there is an expansive bar with an impressive 20 beers on tap. Donnelly’s also has a dining room, but we chose to eat at the bar. The bartender promptly greeted us and we both decided on Smithwick’s. It’s an old standby for us, and I should have been more adventurous with all of the other beers available, but I was just in the mood for a good Irish beer. The menu is a good selection of bar food with slight twists. They also offer dinner specials nightly. I chose a Taco Salad and my dining companion chose an order of wings. The Taco Salad was a good size and I was intrigued by what the Cheddar and Jalapeño shell would taste like. Unfortunately, the shell did not crisp as expected and the taste was quite bland. Other than that, the salad itself was decent. The Wings that were ordered smelled delicious and came with the requisite bleu cheese and celery. My dining partner was intrigued by the taste. It wasn’t the usual Buffalo sauce. After tasting one myself, we came to the conclusion that the extra spice tasted like coriander. We both decided we prefer a more traditional wing sauce. There seemed to be a few regulars around the bar and the restaurant itself was clean and attractive. I prefer my regular Fairport haunt of FVI and wouldn’t see myself returning frequently. Overall, however, not a bad place to stop, even for just the choice of beers! more

Great Food & Beer 10/27/2005

What a fun addition to the village of Fairport! The old site of the GT, Donnelly's is a great Irish pub. With many beers on tap, there is something for everyone. This is an upscale, adult crowd; definitely not some rowdy college bar. In fact, I see many of my fellow Lutherans on any given Friday night. This is my 'Mommy gets a night with grownups" spot of choice. I like a tall, cold Yuengling and a plate of wings, personally. This makes a great watering hole for adults looking for an educated atmosphere and good food. more
