Traditional Mexican, not Tex-mex 11/24/2005

You will find a lot of medical people here at lunch as it is close to the medical center. It is always packed, but they serve the food fresh, hot, and very quickly. They have decent prices and always offer one traditional mexican meal as their daily special. Don't expect a lot of sauces as it is a traditional mexican restauraunt, not Tex-mex. If you are new, try their tacos. They will use goat cheese and cilantro and fresh limes in their foods. more

Amazing food 8/19/2005

This place is on Erwin east of downtown. They have what is called "authentic" mexican food. They use the real mexican white cheese instead of some american substitute and it is wonderful. My favorite is the beef quesadillas and my husband loves the caldo (soup). This is the only mexican place my husband will eat the menudo, which is saying a lot. All of there dishes are wonderful. They also have some real mexican art on the walls, which is interesting to look at. more

Real Mexican? You got it! 7/26/2005

If you're in the mood for an authentic Mexican meal that won't put a huge dent in your wallet, Don Juan's is the place for you. I've enjoyed every visit and relish the food and atmosphere. I grew up near the Mexican border and Don Juan's brings back memories of the authentic Mexican food I grew up with. Wednesday is half price taco day - as if they weren't cheap enough! Don't go if you're expecting run of the mill Tex-Mex, because you'll be disappointed. more
