They Delivered OUr Order Like It Was a Drug Deal 10/13/2009

Dominos has a beautiful website. You can order food right on the internet, and then once the order is placed, you can even check the status of the order and follow when it goes into the oven right to the point of delivery. Tonight, Nathan & I ordered our food from them for the last time. The driver, whose name was Mohamed (the website even tells you the driver's name!), decided to call and talk gibberish on the phone when he arrived at our house with our order. Assuming he was down stairs, I just said, ""We are coming down stairs,"" and hung up. Nathan waited by the door, staring at Mohamed who was sitting in his car doing nothing, waiting for him to get out & deliver. Well, Mohamed never got out of his car & drove away. WTF!? So I angrily called Dominos and asked what happened? The man lied to me and said that I never picked up the phone. This prompted me to yell back, explaining that I did, and that I told the driver we were going downstairs, and that we watched Mohamed drive away. Whatever. So Mohamed and an assistant (!?) pull up 10 minutes later and call again. Nathan picks up this time and once again waits for them to get out of the car. After a few minutes, it is obvious these lazy people aren't going to get out of their car, so Nathan walks to them. He takes the food, gives the money and yells at them for not getting out of the car as they speed away. Irritated as hell, I leave a nasty message in the ""rate our service"" section on their website, and then call Dominos once again. The man I spoke to said that ""For the safety of the driver, they do not leave their vehicles."" So I replied, ""You can't expect females to go out to a shady looking car because that compromises MY safety."" He then said, ""If that had been the case he would have gotten out."" He said that because Nathan was wearing a HOODIE, that compromised the driver's safety!!! A HOODIE!!!??? When did hoodies become such a bad thing? They are warm and comfortable. Plus, I know there are some shady parts of Hartford, but our neighborhood is the nicest area of West Hartford, and anyone that wears a hoodie here is just cold, and not out to murder a Dominos Delivery Man. At this point Nathan grabbed the phone and told the guy, ""Maybe you should learn deliver pizzas like a delivery man and stop making it seem like a drug deal."" That is exactly true. Dominos delivers their pizzas like they are making a drug deal. To make matters worse, our food was cold and the sandwiches we ordered were skimpy. They also forgot to include an extra sauce, which we ordered and payed for. Because of their laziness, Mohamed and his ""assistant"" drove away without a tip, but I wish we could get our money back as well. Ordering delivery is supposed to be a fun treat, and these idiots certainly ruined our dinner. If you feel like ordering from Dominos, don't be lured in by their beautiful website. As nice and convenient as their site is, remember that there's a bunch of incompetent bastards that actually deal with your order, and that is not very pretty at all. Their model of ""customer service"" is exactly what is wrong wrong America today. If we are hungry from now on, we are either making our own food (like we have been doing), or we are ordering from small local businesses, and we suggest you all do the same. These large chains have so much money that they believe they have no need for excellent customer service. If we keep giving them money, they'll continue to believe that what they are doing is ok. It is time to raise our standards, people. Pros: easy to order online Cons: Delivery man was incompetent & customer service was lousy. more
