I went to this gym for a few years, and though it can get painfully crowded during peak hours, the staff is nice and they keep the place up pretty well for the $35/mo you pay them. But, when I tried to cancel my membership, the problems started. It took more than a dozen calls to both the local club and the corporate office to get to the end result -- basically that they wouldn't refund any of the money they automatically charged to my credit card during the 6 months AFTER I had canceled my membership and stopped using the gym. This was not because of any contract issue -- they basically bungled the paperwork, gave me the runaround for 6 months (while still charging me) then refused to refund my money. Lorraine in their corporate office told me that unless I could ""prove"" that I canceled my membership, then she wouldn't refund the money. We all know that New York is filled with shadily run businesses; unfortunately Dolphin Fitness is one of them.
Pros: Decent facility, low cost
Cons: Rude, unhelpful corporate management
