Although Dollar General was originally a 'Dollar Store', only 30% of it's current merchandise is priced at $1 or less. More so than bargains, the store offers convenience as it's conveniently located and rarely crowded. You can generally run in for a gallon of milk or a tub of margarine and be back out in less than 5 minutes. In most cases, I've found pricing on most items to be comparable to the Price Chopper grocery store located across the street or K Mart on the household items. The main thing to remember when shopping here is they accept cash, pin-based debit cards, and Discover cards only - no Mastercard, Visa, or American Express credit cards are accepted!
