Doheny Dry Cleaners

I really wish I'd read reviews before I brought my gorgeous red silk dress to be dry cleaned at Doheny Cleaners. I'd gotten a few things cleaned there before with no problem, and they're right across the street so you can't beat the convenience. Also, the owner runs that entire block - including Nails and More and the Fantastic Sam's, both of which I've patronized many times with no problems. But when i picked up my red dress, I noticed through the plastic that the delicate sleeves were all frayed, and weirdly unevenly. I pointed out the damage and asked him what happened, and he put his hands up in the air and said, ""I don't know, it wasn't us, we didn't do anything."" I showed him again and he said, ""That's the style."" I emphatically showed him how uneven it was and again asked for an explanation, and he said, ""I only dry cleaned it. I have no responsibility for any damage. It was like that when you brought it. I have no control over what happens here."" His immediate defensiveness incensed me, and I started yelling, ""What do you mean?! You DESTROYED my dress?!"" and he started yelling back at me, in front of his entire staff, in front of other customers. I started cursing and yelling more and then realized how inappropriate we were both being, so I leaned into him and said, ""I'm not trying to fight with you, I just want to know what happened to my dress"" and he yelled back at me and was in complete denial, telling me to take the dress back to the store, that it was cheap and defective. \r \r I paid the $12 cleaning fee (he never offered to waive it or remedy the situation) and left in tears, also having noticed the red color fading at the waist.\r \r This guy is a horrible businessman. He cares nothing for customer service or for quality in service. He actually cited other times that expensive coats and dresses had been brought in and ruined, and how those weren't his fault either. I was screaming at him, ""WHY WOULD ANYONE EVER COME HERE? IF I HAD KNOWN, I WOULD HAVE WORN THE DRESS DIRTY AND JUST PUT ON A LOT OF PERFUME!!!!""\r \r I actually went back later that day, after I'd calmed down a bit, to tell him how poorly I thought he'd handled the situation. At first he denied yelling at me (which clearly from the other reviews is habitual for him) and then he told me it was all my fault for using ""that language"" with him (e.g. the F word, etc., which I maintain he deserved).\r \r I told him that although I lived across the street, I would never give him my business again - not at the dry cleaners, nor the nail or hair salons. He said sarcastically, ""Aw, that's too bad"" and gave me a frowny face. He clearly doesn't care about maintaining his clients or doing a decent job. (That being said, he did take the stains out of my dress, but it is unwearable now, and unfixable by any tailor.)\r \r DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! more

Ive gone to this cleaners on and off for sometime. I finally decided to take a jacket there that had a very light make up stain on the collar. The jacket was returned to me shrunken, burned and discolored. The owner Eric insisted that nothing was wrong with it until I called the police and has been beating around the bush for a whole as far as how this issue will be handled although I had him sign a contract in front of the police.\r \r Tomorrow morning I am taking my evidence to Small Claims court and suing him for the 800+ dollar jacket he ruined, as well as damages. \r \r I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, ERIC IS A FRAUD, LIAR AND OVERPRICED CHEAT. I WOULD STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS POSSIBLE!! NOW I HAVE TO WASTE MY TIME IN COURT WITH THIS SCAM ARTIST...ALTHOUGH I KNOW I WILL WIN BECAUSE I HAVE THE EVIDENCE AND I EVEN RECORDED HIS CONVERSATIONS AND OUR AGREEMENT ITS JUST A WASTE OF TIME.\r more

Terrible service, 2 to 3 times higher prices than in close by cleaners in West Hollywood. AVOID! more

Last Friday I was walking down Doheny Dr., when I passed in front of Doheny cleaners.The grey-haired mexican delivery guy was walking from the store to his van, looked me up & down and made some kind of comment, which I ignored. I walked to the corner , turned and walked to the end of the block to make my way back, when I noticed the driver from Doheny Cleaners driving very slowly following me. He made comments and noises at me out of his passenger side window for 2 1/2 blocks. I was walking alone and when he finally left, I walked back to Doheny Cleaners to let them know what had happened. I was shaking at this point. I walked in and asked to speak to the owner, the very rude gentleman at the front asked why I needed to speak to him. I explained that I had been followed & heckled by their driver for several blocks and was concerned for my safety. He told me to call back next Tuesday in case the owner was in. I went home and filed a police report. I spoke to Eric, the owner, today. He kindly explained that he had a chat with his driver, telling him not to ""do that again."" I'm still not sure I feel safe sharing the neighborhood with a predator. more

I have been a regular customer there for more than 20 years. It is a pleasure to work with them. Everything I give to them is returned as brand new and perfect. Anything I ask for, they cooperate with. The owner will go out of his way to make sure you are happy. I want to thank Eric and all his staff for their kindness and fast service. Gave new shirt to cleaners. Returned with giant hole in sleeve. Owner admitted fault, then made our housekeeper jump through hoops -- five visits -- to get a check. When check was cut it was for less than original receipt. All kinds of excuses in between like owner/accountant on vacation, etc. We're going back again tomorrow. We have been speaking with the owner directly so we know this comes from the top. Not straight, conscienscious and sincere owners. Find a different cleaner, these are not what you want in your life. We were high paying regular customers. It matters more for him to try and avoid paying for damage than to keep a long term customer. Disappointing. An expensive lesson. Stay away. I have always had good service for the last 13 years. My uniforms and personal clothing are always ready when promised. All employees are friendly. Great family owned business. Would highly recommend. Pros: convenient more

The worst cleaners by far in Los Angeles. I have gotten better dry cleaning at the $1.50 per garment cleaners! First of all I took over a really expensive dress and pair of slacks. The dress they stained and snagged, the pants almost looked worse when I got them back. They said they would fix the snag and stain in the dress, but when I picked it up a day later it looked like they didn't even touch it. Not to mention I paid $27 for two pieces neither of which they refunded and the manager/owner was the rudest man I have EVER met. Not only was he rude, he didn't even apologize, and almost smirked when I left with my ruined dress. They are awful, I wouldn't trust my worst pair of socks with them. This place is the WORST!! THEY RUIN EVERYTHING!!! They tell you to come back, then they don't have anything ready, they either loose or manage to ruin anything you leave. This is a very good dry cleaning business. Their staff is extremely helpful and have very competitive prices. They are also incredibly good at getting out dirt and blood stains with their high quality service. They can get most clothes cleaned in 24 hours and may give you discounts or a free clean if they are not on time. They are great business practicioners. Go to Doheny Dry Cleaners, it is a great place. more
