Dogwood Hills Academy

Our son has attended Dogwood Hills Academy over a year, beginning at age 1. As a parent, sending your child to daycare is one of the most difficult decisions you can make and after quite a bit of research and touring, we chose DHA. In the beginning, safety, cleanliness and love were the top priorities as we began our search. Dogwood Hills gets 5 stars in all of these areas. When you walk into Dogwood Hills the air is fresh and clean (which is unusual for a building FULL of kids.) The security system has always worked, there is always someone at the front to greet you and they are on a first name basis with all of the parents AND children. The equipment in and outside of the rooms is top notch. Everything looks and feels clean and secure and the staff is ALWAYS warm and friendly. As we walk the halls to class, teachers from other classes always stop to say hello, which adds to the atmosphere that makes DHA what it is. As my son has progressed through the classrooms, we have found quite a bit of activity and learning. He comes home with artwork and activities and always has something new to share. The active calendar of DHA always keeps the children busy and engaged. The activities are ALWAYS fun and creative, adding to the overall experience. While most children dread going to school and being left...my son LOVES going, playing with friends and ALWAYS has a smile on his face when he leaves. Most importantly, I feel comfortable leaving him, knowing that he will be safe and cared for while I'm working. Having this confidence in your childcare provider is CRITICAL. I would absolutely recommend DHA to anyone who asks me. more

I have 2 children who attend Dogwood Hills Academy and couldn't be happier with where my children are! I know everyday when we drop them off they are in great hands. Both of my children's teachers are so caring and I know they are learning so much and will be prepared for when they reach kindergarten. My 3 year old loves going to school everyday and even has asked for her teacher on the weekend. I would recommend Dogwood Hills Academy to anyone looking! more

As a current educator, I am more than pleased with Dogwood Hills in every aspect. I have 3 children who currently attend and have attended since they were babies. Dogwood Hills has provided my children with a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. My 3 year olds have learned so much at DHA. They are being WELL prepared for Pre-K and Kindergarten. DHA is not just a daycare, it has been an educational foundation for my children. more

I have 2 children in at dogwood hills academy and they both love it. We have been looking to move and one if the reasons we have not yet is that we would not want our children to go to a different school. Both my children love their teachers and we feel the teachers really care about our kids. They both have learned a lot and have lots of fun! I did a lot of research before placing my children here and I could not imagine having them anywhere else! Great school! more

My daughter attends Dogwood Hills Academy and is in Pre-K. She absolutely LOVES going to school every morning! I am very impressed with the school, faculty and staff. My daughter is learning so much while have lots of fun! more

One of my neighbors went in to sign her son up for pre-k and said that they tried to charge her a registration fee for pre-k. I happen to know that you are not allowed to do this. While this experience really put a bad taste in my mouth, I have to say that while looking at schools in the area, Dogwood Hills is the best around. The facility is beautiful and the staff are amazing with the exception of the current director but I have heard that she will be leaving soon and that is a good thing. The price for care is high but competes well with the schools nearby. I have heard from another friend that the teachers definitely do love the children but make no mistake, the owner and director are in it for a paycheck. I did attempt to write a review on yahoo and was given a scathing response from Dogwood Hills Academy. I hope this helps those looking for good care in the Canton, Georgia area. more

The owner has is an ex-Goddard franchisee and really knows how to run a daycare and loves what she does. Choosing the right daycare can be a very scary. I have had three children at Dogwood Hills. My middle daughter attended GA Pre-K and she is way ahead of the kindergarten class. The teachers are fantastic and I am so happy I made the right choice. My oldest daughter attended Goddard pre-K and she was very far behind in kindergarten. I plan on sending my son to Dogwood Hills pre-K when he is old enough. The facility is beautiful, spacious and clean. The teachers are very helpful and friendly and have a good grasp on early childhood development. My son (just turned 3) knows his shapes, colors and how to count to 14 in English and Spanish. I really like the outdoor splash park during the summer and the garden where the children can learn about plants and actually grow vegetables. I strongly disagree with the post regarding the "grumpy" teacher. If I have any concern, the owner or director have remedied them as soon as possible. I would question if the reviewer had brought up these concerns to management. more

This is my second child to attend daycare, and I have had a variety of experiences with a variety of places. I have found the staff at DHA to be very friendly, have a positive attitude, and to work hard to meet the needs of my one year old child. In addition, they provide a variety of age appropriate activities and learning opportunities throughout the day. All staff has been consistent with little turnover noted, and communication between school and home has been strong. I find the staff to be trustworthy, friendly, and experienced in working with children and feel fortunate to have found such as great center. more

We still can't believe we shared our child with these people. Our 4 year old is at a different school now but every time we happen to drive by Dogwood Hills Academy she says, "They put me in the grumpy room for the whole day every day and I don't know why." We have to trust the people who we let take care of our children, but in this case we don't. People who work there impressed us as unprofessional not able to take care of children, and at times some of them even seemed heartless. Many times we saw sleepy, angry, fussy faces of people we didn't know watching the class early in the morning before the regular teacher came in. And we watched from our car through the window how they ignored our child crying as an unknown person accepted her into the classroom. We have many other complaints as well, but in short, we were extremely disappointed by our experience at Dogwood Hills.
