Dog & Cat Hospital

WARNING!!\r \r These undertrained, greedy monsters took our cat, forced a painful and medically unnecessary enema on him, doused him in ice cold water ostensibly to clean him up and then caged him for hours without drying him off or attempting to warm him up. He was handed back to us shivering, wet and ice cold. The staff didn't care that he was crying or shivery numb. They just demanded their $250. We had questions. They didn't have time- unless we were willing to pay more money for another appointment. Our beautiful cat died 48hours later from shock and pneumonia. \r \r Dr. Gerlach or Dr. Hallstrom are entirely negligent and unprofessional not to mention undereducated. They need to have their licenses brought under review and I will be contacting the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine this week to file a complaint and initiate an investigation in to their practice. \r \r if you love your pet, like we loved ours don't risk his life with the doctors Gerlach and Hallstrom. They're all about their money and not at all about the health or welfare of your pet.\r more

I had a very bad experience with these folks. Twice they overlooked an obvious diagnoses on two different dogs. I wrote the first one off as a mistake, but with the second one, I went to another vet who diagnosed my dog right away. If that wasn't so bad, while I was waiting for my pet to be returned to me after she had been overnight with them, I witnessed the staff ""attending"" to a large dog who had recently been put to sleep. They were laughing and joking because the dog's body was so heavy. It turned my stomach and I've never been back. more

My dog has seizures, and we took her in to get a refill on the Phenobarbital the emergency vet had prescribed. Dog and Cat Hospital filled the prescription with 2 x's the strength of the original prescription (the label read the correct dosage and strength, however). I inquired about the larger size pill before I left the office; they assured me it was fine. Our pup was so drugged that she could not stand on her own feet. After 2 days of overdosing our dog and researching the size of the pill Dog and Cat gave us, we realized their mistake and went back to get the correct dosage and pill size. Thankfully, our dog is fine, but it was scary and tough to see the effects that mistake had on our pup. Pros: convenient and clean Cons: their mistake harmed our pet more

I highly recommend The Cat and Dog Hospital. I have tried several veterinary offices in Hampton Roads, and rank this one the best of them all. They are very professional, and yet also very compassionate. It is obvious that they love what they do, and the veterinarians are excellent. Their concerns are the health of your animal and your animal's relationship with you and your family. Pros: Everything was a pro. I have found, in my years with them, everything to be great. Cons: No cons that I have ever found. I am completely satisfied. more
