Favorite new find 12/7/2009

It was really that good. We celebrated a birthday lunch there today. They don't pull a big lunch crowd but they deserve to. Five out of five of us *loved* our lunch. The menu understates the flavors, which are in my opinion really nicely balanced and just a little different than what you generally find. This was the first time at the restaurant for all of us and we all agreed we would bring others here in the future. Pros: Food, charming waitress more

Excellent, wish we had one in Boston 10/22/2009

We were recommended this restaurant before visiting Sonoma and absolutely loved it. First, the food was amazing. We had hot & sour soup for an appetizer. I'm not a big fan of hot & sour soup in general, but this was easily the best I've ever tasted. If hot & sour soup always tasted like that, I would order it on a regular basis. For my entree, I had the sauteed pork chop schnitzel a la Jackie which was amazing. The meat was very juicy and the sauce was delicious. The portion size was very generous. Finally, we had the Five Star ""Sticky Toffee Pudding"" a la mode. Very tasty! I really wish that Doce Lunas was in Boston; it would easily be my most favorite restaurant in the city! Pros: Incredible food, friendly owners, reasonably priced more

What a GREAT place! 9/23/2009

During a recent visit to the area we were referred to Doce Luna. I consider myself pretty picky about what I think is really good food and this place is Great. Short ribs done Korean style, the citrus chicken breast, fried green tomato salad, pineapple Macadamia crusted brie, ginger creme brulee, meringue with berries and cream all were a thrill to eat. One top of the wonderful food the atmosphere is very casual and cozy and the staff and owners are genuinely friendly and attentive. Don't miss it if you are anywhere close to the area. Pros: Food, owners, staff more

A gem in Sonoma 11/5/2005

While looking for a restaurant along Sonoma Hwy we stopped at Doce Lunas what we found was a 5 star restaurant. The night we were there it was not too crowded so we had a chance to chat with the owners chef Alex and his wife Jackie. They were interesting, attentive and the food was superb. While traveling we never visit the same restaurant we prefer to sample as many as many as possible. On this trip we decided to go back the next night for another excellent meal. When we showed up, with no reservations, the place was packed but Jackie recognized us and directed the hostess to seat us right away. Even though we were visiting the area and could not be regulars at their restaurant they made us feel just as important. Kudos to Alex and Jackie for two great evenings of hospitality and 5 star dining. more

Just Perfect! 2/25/2005

When anywhere near Sonoma, be sure to include a visit to Doce Lunas! New to the area and not sure what to expect, I found the cuisine to be upscale, the decor evoked warmth and comfort, the atmosphere was not at all pretentious, and the service was perfect. The menu offerings were quite intriquing, prepared with an artful change from the ordinary and trendy. A perfect blend of great food and wine, in good company, with simple, but beautiful, surroundings. And be sure to order the signature toffee pudding dessert.its like nothing else! Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, Interesting menu, Excellent service Cons: None! more

Obscure Perfection 2/18/2005

As a proffesional traveller I have had the priveledge of dining at some of the finest restaurants the world has to offer. I must say that Doce Luna ranks among the top 5! The cuisine is an eclectic fusion of Hawaiian, Pacific Rim and American recipes. What's more important is that every dish can simply be described as delicious and unforgetable. The entire dining experience was the perfect blend of a relaxed Sonoma atmosphere, the finest customer service and an interactive environment where one can see Doce Luna's astounding chef work his majic. Fortunately for me, yet unfortunately for many others, Doce Luna is in an often overlooked location in Sonoma. If you live anywhere in a 100 mile radius of Sonoma or are visiting the area do yourself a favor and dine at Doce Luna! Pros: Fantastic Food, Excellent Service, Wonderful Wines Cons: Ovelooked location more
