Great neighborhood restaurant 10/2/2009

Stella's has been our go-to place since it's inception. We love that we can walk there! The staff is extremely attentive and polite. The food is homey and wholesome–most of it being local which is a huge draw for us. The pizza crusts are thin, and made from whole wheat flour–and oh, so good!! We have never been disappointed with a meal from Stella's. And, I could happily drown myself in their homemade pomodoro sauce. Yum! Pros: Great pizza! more

Great Food, Great View 9/29/2008

My best friend was visiting from North Carolina over the weekend, so I decided to take her to Stella for dinner. We really enjoyed the experience. The service was thorough and friendly. We ordered the fritters to start - very fresh and tasty! I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and my friend ordered the Shrimp Scampi. Both of our dishes were delightful - very generous portions. Not only were the portions big, the value of the menu is unbeatable - I had enough food to take home for later. We sat outside on the patio and really enjoyed the view of the historic cemetary - very peaceful. I will definitely be back. Our waitress told us that they are serving brunch too! Pros: Food, Service, Price, View of Oakland Cemetary Cons: N/A more

Excellent food 9/5/2008

My daughter and I went to Stella's and we were pleasantly surprised. The waiter was great, very attentive and the pizza was the best I ever had. My daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs and raved about the sauce. It reminded her of food she ate when she visited Italy. We had the calamari with aioli and it was very good. Not too greasy, and we enjoyed our meal and plan on taking some friends back with us. more

Avoid this overhyped place with less than average food. There are better pizza and pasta places in Atlanta. 8/11/2008

The fact that the restaurant wasn't crowded at 7:30 on a Saturday night in August should have told us to move on to another place with better food. Although the basic service was good, neither of us will go back unless we hear word of a major overhaul of the menu.\r We ordered calamari as a starter. The fried basil was nice but the heavy dipping sauce tasted like mayo instead of lemon and had a weird yellow tint. The calamari was some of the greasiest I've experienced as well as tasteless. The meal breading had fallen off of most of the pieces by the time it arrived at our table. \r For entrees, both of us ordered Shrimp Scampi. I really wanted to try another special, seasonal squash over fresh pasta, but wasn't sure I'd like the mint leaves. A woman at the table behind ordered the squash, mint and pasta special but didn't eat but a few bites before pushing it away with an audible complaint about the taste. Her companion ordered a special pizza topped with bacon and corn which looked fairly decent.\r The fresh pasta (parsley and black pepper ,maybe) of the scrimp scampi, was swimming in greasy butter and had a slightly scorched taste. No evidence of lemon existed in this dish, as far as we could tell, and we each counted only two small slivers of fresh garlic. Eight or so small shrimp dotted the pasta but were so overcooked as to be rubbery. I ate two bites of my pasta and most of the shrimp before pushing my plate away in disgust. My companion ate one shrimp and less than half of the pasta before giving up. The waitress only asked if we wanted to-go boxes (we didn't). The chef came out and asked us and the table behind us if ""everyone doing alright here"" before walking away. No one asked either of us or the table behind us why we didn't eat our meals or ask for a take-home box for the leftovers. We were charged fifty cents more for one of the draught beers than the price listed on menu but I figured it wasn't worth the hassle and just paid it. Pros: Service Cons: Food more

Gotta try this new restaurant in Grant Park! 7/24/2008

I tried Stella last Friday night and really liked it. It's 'sister' restaurant Osteria 832 is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta, so I hoped that Stella would live up to the Osteria standards. The food is good, moderately priced, and the atmosphere is great. We sat outside and had a really good waiter. All in all....a good place to eat/hang out. Pros: Good value, good food more

Pretty good italian 4/14/2008

Overall the food was very good. The service staff was eclectic but attentive. The prices were great. Pros: Excellent value Cons: We had to park down the street more

Cozy, Affordable Grant Park Trattoria, Yum-O! 4/8/2008

Before it's over, I think we might have to move to the Grant Park area, and Memorial Drive. Another wonderful neighborhood joint, across from Oakland Cemetary. And we did snag a table on the patio, as I gazed across the street to the Cemetary, to see if my family's tombstones were still standing, after the recent tornado. All was in place, and so is this menu. And the prices. Could come here every night. We started with a couple of apps, Buschetta-tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, & EVOO. Thank you very much Rachel Ray. And the Fritter's alla Stella-panko crusted potato and cod fritters w/lemon aoli, Yum-O! Had a wonderful pasta dish, Baci,-quattro formaggio stuffed ""purses"" in a Vodka Sauce. Pure heaven. My dining partner had Lasagne-Homemade Bolognese, belchamel, mozzarella layered between fresh egg pasta. And wine under $10. What a deal, and what a meal. Pros: Neiborhood, Homemade Italian Specialties, Great Prices Cons: Parking Can Be Tight! more
