Editorial review from Citysearch 9/25/2012

Our daughter has been there for 2 years. Unless you are comfortable with overpriced daycare that feeds your children saltine crackers, velveta cheese, the cheapest white bread/bagels, and pizza don't go here. They are 2x as expensive as most places I have seen. While the director is sweet as are many teachers, I have witnessed too much bad attitude directed at kids, parents, and between co-workers. The teachers that are good are truly great, but the bad apples are really sour....Today, my daughter and I didn't even get a 'goodmorning' and then the teacher verbally snapped at her co-worker. I've seen this too many times. more

Quality care for infants through preschool 11/15/2006

Our son has been at Discoveryland for 3 months and we are LOVING it! The director and teachers provide caring individualized attention to each child. My toddler son feels very connected to this place. They provide a wonderful balance of loving kindness and educational enrichment. We had our son at a very well know childcare center before Discoveryland and it is clear that we made a very good decision in moving him to Discoveryland. Not only is it affordable, it truly has a very homey feeling, which makes our son feel safe and secure. It is a Christian program but the influence on the curriculum is minimal. They provide veggie meals and a covered play area. I love this place and more importantly my son does as well! I have 2 friends who also have their kids here, one whose daughter is 4 months old. The teachers in the infant room are FABULOUS! She could not be happier with the care her infant is receiving. Pros: Commitment from teachers, loving environment Cons: Not many fieldtrips more

A little treasure - 12/14/2005

I had never heard of Discoveryland before but called them because of their close proximity to my home. The school turned out to be a fabulous, caring, cozy and educational environment for my child. The school is unpretentious, flexible and affordable. Although it is a Christian school, the influence is very limited. The director, is wonderful, the teachers and helpers are equally wonderful, the meals are vegetarian, they work with potty-training and there is a covered play area outside for rainy days. I love that this school feels like home. There is a good mix of structure, art, singing and learning amongst the free play time. Its really stressful trying to find a preschool and I visitied A LOT! Even after visiting Discoveryland I wasn't totally sure but now I feel lucky to have chosen it because my child has really benefitted from the experience and friends there. Pros: vegetarian meals, covered outside area, Great staff Cons: larger class sizes more

Polly is an Angel~ 9/18/2005

When it comes to deciding on child care facilities I look for safety, love, creativity, and educational values. I found all of the above at Discoveryland, which is run by a wonderfully spirited woman, Polly Johnson. She was such a positive teacher that I feel the need to share with others. I recommend her highly. My daughter has attended four other centers so I have some perspective on daycare. Some places can seem like corporate headquarters while others can be under-organized. I found perfect harmony at Discoveryland. I honestly suggest this pre-school to any parent who wants their child to feel safe, while having fun, and exploring positive thinking and acceptance. THANK YOU POLLY FOR BEING SUCH A CARING PERSON! Pros: Vegetarian meals, Warm atmosphere, Secured entry Cons: Daylight basement, Inside Church more
