Discount Tire

As a technician at a dealership, I have the knowledge to back up my bad review. I went in for a set of new tires all around, they seemed nice and the service was quick. well my car started pulling real hard to the right after the new tires and a week later my low tire pressure light came on so I pulled over and put my pressure gauge on all of them, I figured it was most likely due to the cold but it was only one tire that was low. Since I purchased their tire warranty certificate, I went back for a repair. they told me that there was nothing wrong with the tire so the ""rebuilt"" my pressure sensor.... this is where it all goes down hill. You can not rebuild a pressure sensor, they can only be replaced. Better yet, my car doesn't have pressure sensors it uses the wheel speed sensor to determine the tires pressure. This sensor can not be rebuilt either, to change it you have to remove the brake caliper, rotor and wheel bearing which they are not certified to do, nor did they have the time. So they BS'd me and lied to hide their mistakes, what really happened is that they didn't clean my wheel or seal the bead. Later I put my car on my lift at work to solve the pulling problem, brakes and front end all check out and I had an alignment 5 months before. (I did find however that they did not balance my tires, some had no weights on them so I balanced them myself which were almost 2.00 oz off, that is a lot). This left only the tires so I rotated the fronts to the back and the pull was gone. I went back because the tires are bad and they have a little note on their envelopes that read ""Remember...if you're not satisfied with one of our tires, please feel free to bring it back."" so I did just that. The man helping me had a very rude tone of voice implying I had no idea what I was talking about and tried to explain that tire balance changes as they wear (which is true, but not after a month of wear!) They pulled my car in and said the tires are fine but noticed a slight ""hop"" so they road force balanced them which they said solved the pull.... road force balance had nothing to do with tire pull. They left my tires the way I had them and called it good. These people are incompetent and liars. I will never go there again, nor do I recommend them to anyone. more

This place is Located in Burton, MI in front of Lowes. They are very bad at what they do. I took my tire in for a repair and asked for a patch. they Said not a problem. So While sitting there we here a big boom. They had Blown out my tire while "repairing" They said it blew because it was to worn. (this tire has less then 200 miles on it) I said well why did you try to repair it if it was so worn out. They say " oh we didnt take it off the rim we were tryin to find out where the hole was". Did you not see the X's we had put on the tire like we said we did. "ummm" Well we cant do anything for you except give you a discount on a new tire. After argueing and getting no where we left with horrible service and now blown out tire in the back. IN simple terms and the nicest way. Those guys need to learn how do there job and start taking fault for there own mistakes instead of blaming the customer for trying to come and give you business. Will Never go back or send someone to them. more

I have had both good and bad experiences with Discount Tire. They always seem a little pushy- I am more than sure they are on some kind of commission. Even if you KNOW what you want, they still HAVE to come and look at your tires - I imagine so they can convince you to buy more. I have had it take longer than quoted and also felt that I paid WAY to much. Yet, some days I have felt very good about going there - as they treated me good, and got me my car back ASAP. I guess it really depends on where you go - as they have both a Miller rd and Court st. location - and who you get!! more

I usually try shopping locally owned businesses when feasible. But I have used Discount for tires for over a decade. I've bought truck, passenger car, and high performance tires from them in three different states. I've had two sets of tires installed at the Burton store and am having new ones put on my truck this summer. They are competitively priced, honor their warranties, fast, friendly and clean. What more can I say? They'll keep getting my business! more
