  • Dr. Donna Barpal is a native California born in Santa Barbara and raised in Northern California. She graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Physiology, and continued her education at the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry for her dental degree. Dr. Barpal continued her specialty training in Prosthodontics at UCSF Dental School and San Francisco Veterans Hospital. She then pursued additional training in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics from UCLA Medical Center.

    Currently, along with private practice, Dr. Barpal also is a clinical professor in the Prosthodontic department at the USCF Dental School. She also volunteers with Thousand Smile to treat underprivileged children and adults in Mexico with maxillofacial defects.

    Dr. Barpal is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Contra Costa Dental Association, American College of Prosthodontist, and International College of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics.

    **Fixed Prosthodontics** typically involves crown (cap) restorations to restore the appearance and function of one or more teeth. The crown restoration may be part of a fixed (permanent) bridge replacing missing teeth.

    **Removable Prosthodontics** involves the fabrication of removable bridgework which utilizes tooth and/or gum support. Partial or complete dentures are the most common forms of treatment with variations including implant-supported dentures and attachment-retained overdentures.

    **Implant Prosthodontics** incorporates principles from both disciplines of fixed and removable prosthodontics in conjunction with the use of bone-anchored implants. The treatment course involves an implant placement phase,healing phase,and re storative treatment phase.

    **Maxillofacial Prosthodontics** covers several categories of patient care starting with prosthetic treatment of congenital cranio-facial defects.
