I have been bringing my pets to this office myself for over 15 years and previous pets of my parents. Although this office is not close to my home, I am happy with Dr. Wilcox and ...

My husband and I started taking our little guy over two years ago to Dewitt, and we couldn't be anymore happier. Everything is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Our dog is not afraid to go there and he enjoys all the attention! Cindy, was very helpful to our puppy the first time we brought him in she made him feel very comfortable, and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend this place :) more

As a relatively new owner of a Beagle-mix puppy in April, we did some research and talked to people about possible Vets in the area. Most people recommended DeWitt to us and I must say I couldn't be happier with their services. Dr. Caughey is great as well as the rest of the staff including the front end and the techs! They show my pet the same love and care that I do, and are always available to answer questions and to get her scheduled as soon as possible if there are concerns. I would recommend DeWitt to anyone who has a dog and is looking around for a new vet! more

I got my dog from DeWitt Animal Hospital and she is the best dog I could have hoped for. My family and and I had just moved to NY and I was a stay at home mom at the time and I had always had a dog. My boyfriend and I researched many shelters and dogs but once we came upon ""Spanky"" (her name at the time) we knew she was the one. We went in to meet her and she had just gotten fixed so she was a little loopy on pain meds, but none the less still perfect for our family. Her name now is Denali and she has been through an adult 1 and adult 2 training class and passed both. She goes to the groomers every 8 weeks for her ""spa day"" and just an overall loving and caring dog. She had a lot of trust issues when we first got her. She was found wandering the streets, and now she is just a big ball of love. She loves snuggle time on the couch with Aubrey (our 15 month old) and I. She is hesitant when strangers go to play with her little baby (Aubrey) but quickly becomes calm when she realizes they mean no harm. We can not thank DeWitt Animal Hospital enough for our prefect puppy <33 more

We have used Dr Wilcox and Dewitt Animal Hospital for years. Our two dogs get treatment here and we often board them here as well. The staff is great! They treat our dogs as if they were theirs and the dogs loving to come here.\r \r Dr. Wilcox is very cautious in his treatment and will suggest tests if he feels something is in need of further diagnosis but is also leaves the decision up to me as to whether we do them or not. I've never once felt pressured or like I was a bad owner for deciding not to do testing. Dr Wilcox will discuss pros and cons of shots, treatment and tests with you, all you have to do is ask. \r \r When our young terrier was diagnosed with Lyme at the Emergency vet, Dr. Wilcox recommended the qualitative test to determine ""how positive"" he was as the treatment with 30 days of doxycline is very hard on the dog's system. The test is expensive but we felt worth it to determine the extent of the disease. Unfortunately his Lyme level was very high so he got treated and is now as Lyme levels as low as they will ever be for a dog who has been infected.\r \r The DAH also serves as the shelter for the City of Syracuse and adopts out dogs that go unclaimed. They work very hard in this effort and if the receptionist was on Facebook, she was likely updating their adoption page while waiting for the paperwork to come back to her for those waiting. more

Dr.Wilcox and the staff here are amazing! They've been taking care of my family and mine's cats for 15 years. I would go with my mom when I was a kid and I go now with my cat as an adult, they've been there for us through crisis and sickness and helped our animals pull through. Our cat was hit my a car and they opened up early when they got our phone call to save him. They take the time and care to make sure the animals are healthy. I wouldn't go any where else ever, I trust them completely with my baby more

Dewitt Animal Hospital has a great staff and loves to be around animals. When I worked there it was always great to see how animals that came from horrendous conditions, were nurtured and cared for constantly, got a second chance at life. I wouldn't bring my animals anywhere else, Dr. Wilcox takes great care of his customers and animals. more

NEVER GO HERE. Here's what you don't know about Dewitt animal hospital that you need to know. When you board your dog there, your dog takes up a space that a stray animal was or could be taking. During busy times like the summer this means that dogs are frequently euthanized for no other reason other than to make space for your dog to board there. Also your dog is therefore right in the same room as as many as 28 other dogs including strays that almost always have fleas and kennel cough. I've seen many many dogs catch something from being in that kennel. Your dog will not be walked or played with at all it will be fed and let out into a tiny concrete space no bigger than a bathroom and that's it. There is a constant immature feud going on between Dewitt animal hospital and the volunteer group that comes there known as Syracuse pit crew simply because Syracuse pit crew tries to walk the dogs, train them, and rescue them by way of adoption or getting them to a no kill shelter and Dewitt animal hospital thinks for some reason that can't be done. They constantly whine about this volunteer group ""wasting their time"" and having to do paperwork to get them to a different shelter. Why? Because it's much easier for them to deem the dog they knew for 5 days that's scared shirtless ""too aggressive"" and euthanize it. They do not strive to provide animal comfort they simply want their animals out whether it's alive or in a garbage bag just depends on what's more cost and labor effective at the time. They will even euthanize friendly dogs and lie to the public including potential adopters that wanted them the day before saying either that they were adopted by someone else or that they were too aggressive. They frequently urge their employees to lie to adopters and clients who board their animals about the strays. They have a very brusque attitude to anyone who actually is kind to animals and wants to see them rescued. There are outbreaks of lethal diseases there more than an other vet clinic or shelter in the area. Your cat would be lucky not to catch FIP or FIV while boarding there. There is so much more to the story but basically don't spend your money here. You are fueling a slaughterhouse and endangering the life of your dog or cat if you do. more

In the spring of 2009 we adopted the most wonderful dog, ""Big Red"" from Dewitt Animal Hospital. He settled into our home wonderfully and has even taken up his big, bumbling Sheepdog brother's hobby of cat-herding. He is a constant joy in our life and has shown himself to be not only dashing and polite but loyal, goofy and very smart as well! We are thankful to Dewitt Animal Hospital for letting us adopt our happy, fluffy new best friend. He's doing great here! more
