Cool place, maybe expectations were too high... 11/27/2005

The interior is beautiful and West MI is glad to have a full service salon that is dependable, I guess I only gave them 3 stars because I have been slightly disappointed w/ some of their service and therefore cannot give them a very good/ 4 star rating. I've gotten facials, massage and have also purchased their makeup... I've been happy w/ the service but just not delighted. They never went above and beyond and I often felt hearded through the door. Admitedly, I'm hard to please. more

refreshing and relaxing 11/19/2005

Design 1 is a great place to go for a wonderful day of pampering. They offer an amazing variety of spa treatments to accommodate the needs of everyone. The staff is very professional and do a wonderful job of making you as comfortable as can be. more

Very Nice 11/11/2005

I went here when I was 7 months pregnant and got the "Maternity Massage". It was AWESOME. They really catered to me and made sure I was comfortable. It was really relaxing and I recommend them to everyone. It is a very nice salon. more

Treat you like a princess/prince! 11/2/2005

I have had several services done at this salon. My favorite is the heated stone massage. The stones are never too hot and it is incredibly relaxing. Their massage therapists are certified, to my knowledge. They also give the best facials in the area. The treatments do not cause breakouts, but rather beautifully glowing skin. It is then followed by an express makeup application by an in house artist with their mineral based makeup. Also, their signature manicure is so pampering and leaves your nails looking great for many days. Favorite spa! PROS: Great service, scheduling, treatments! CONS: Can be pricey more

The most relaxing afternoon I can remember! 11/2/2005

I love going to Design 1. I was there the afternoon before my wedding to get a bunch of treatments with my sister in law. We had massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures. As soon as we arrived, they offered us a beverage. The massage room was very comfortable, dim lights, nice music, etc... The massage therapists were very professional; I can honestly say I've never had a better massage. Then we had facials done - they wrap you up nice and snug in blankets. So relaxing. They were also able to fix some blemish issues I was having so I looked perfect for the wedding. My manicure and pedicure were the best I've ever had and held up great. I was extermely happy overall. My husband and I have also been back for facials, waxings, etc... and have never been unhappy with the service there. more

Too expensive for services 11/2/2005

I went to Design 1 Salon and Day Spa the day before my wedding for some pre-wedding pampering. I felt very rushed and was not very impressed with the level of service I received. My pedicure chair's massage function was broken and the services were completed very fast to allow for another wedding party coming in right after mine. I had booked the services 6 months in advance so I was hoping that they would block off enough time. Overall not a bad place, but for the price I think I could have gotten better. A great place to pamper yourself 11/1/2005

Design 1 Salon & Day Spa is a great place to pamper yourself at. The setting is very modern, yet comfortable. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I have had several services done and they have all been great. The computer system also allows them to track who performed your previous service if you want to go back to that particular person, but are bad at remembering names.
