My husband and I have used Desert Automotive several times and we have been VERY impressed with their service and prices. Most of all, they are honest (a rare quality these days) and we never feel that they are trying to suck us dry! more

Excellent service! My A/C wasn't working, and I had taken it to a National Chain to get checked out. Hours later, the Chain gave me A $1500+ quote! I found Desert Automotive highly reviewed online, so I went there for another opinion. As a woman, many auto places seem to assume I know nothing about cars, so I am always on the lookout for patronizing and condescending treatment: the staff at DA listened, asked questions and treated me with 100% respect. After an extremely thorough check, DA found nothing wrong with any of the parts the Chain said were "completely locked up....unusable...need replacement": there was nothing seized or in need of replacemment! I paid less than 1/10 of the Chain "quote" and drove away with ice cold air. Lee personally called a week later just to make sure I was satisfied with how my car was working. Personal service like that is almost impossible to find these days, and it's what has assured my return business & referrals. Honest, fast & fair, 5 stars!! more

My check engine light was on and I was told that it was the thermostat sensor by another mechanic - a $75 problem. After taking my car to Desert, all of the sudden that problem became a $450 problem. Then they told me there was a problem with oil getting into one of the cylinders - a $600 problem. I asked them to just give me my car and I would discuss what to do with my husband. They went ahead and completed the $450 job, EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM NOT TO!!! I then took my car to a mechanic I trust; he ran every diagnostic test he could think of and could not find anything wrong with the car, even after checking the specific $600 problem. THIS AUTO SHOP IS FULL OF LYING CROOKS AND CANNOT BE TRUSTED!! THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANYONE THEY THINK DOESN'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT CARS!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO DESERT AUTOMOTIVE!!!!!!! more

I have used many auto mechanics in Las Cruces over the past few years but nobody beats the quality of work that Desert Automotive does. They are a little bit pricey at times because they always go by the book. Sometimes they do take awhile to fix the problem too because they get swamped with work. I was a very loyal customer when I owned GM cars in the past. They even suggested the best cars for me to buy so I wouldn't have to visit them that often! Now thats a good mechanic! more
