Kudos to Des Peres Dentistry for it's friendly staff, clean atmosphere, and throrough exams. Dr. Short's personality goes a long way, his assessments are genuine, and he doesn't try to force feed you suggestions or recommendations. He tells you like it is, what you need to do, and leaves it up to you. That's a refreshing contrast compared to other dentists I used to visit. more

I never thought I'd be reviewing my dentist, but I am just so pleased with every experience I have at Des Peres Dentistry! I just had my teeth cleaned by a lovely hygienist and my teeth checked by the wonderful Dr. Short. I began going to Des Peres Dentistry in 2011 when I bought a Groupon for a cleaning and teeth whitening. I was new to St. Louis and hoping to find a dentist that I trusted and enjoyed. I am so grateful that I found Des Peres Dentistry because I will never go anywhere else.\r \r Upon walking into the office, the atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. I never wait for my appointment; they are very prompt and on time. As soon as I go back to see the hygienist, I am greeted with a smile, a warm neck weight, and staff who remember me and our previous conversations. The staff are wonderful in the fact that they make you feel comfortable and calm throughout your entire visit. \r \r Dr. Short is also beyond amazing. He takes my concerns seriously and does everything possible to make me feel comfortable. On one specific occasion, I had a cavity and am very afraid of needles. Dr. Short was actually able to forgo the anesthetic per my request and filled my cavity without any numbing agents and I still did not feel a thing.\r \r I cannot say enough great things about Des Peres Dentistry and Dr. Short. If you're looking for a wonderful dental practice, GO HERE! I've been a patient of Dr. Short's since 2011 and am extremely satisfied. I first learned about DPD from a Groupon, and I'm so lucky that I did! The office is extremely welcoming, with nice touches to give it somewhat of a 'high end' feel. When you sit down for your procedure, they give you a heated neck wrap, which is extremely soothing and relaxing. Amanda is a wonderful hygienist. She's super friendly, funny and efficient! I'm always amazed at how thoroughly (and quickly!) she finishes my cleanings - and I've never had a negative experience with her whatsoever (not one of those places where you have to worry about a hygienist shredding your gums. :) ). Dr. Short is also really nice and has done excellent dental work for me. I've had a bad crown from a different dental office, but the crown and fillings that Dr. Short has done for me have been excellent. I've had them for ~ 2 years and absolutely no complaints. He is always very honest with what work needs to be done (I accept that I have bad teeth) but is also very mindful of the expense. I never feel pressured into anything. I've had trouble finding a reliable MD in St. Louis, but luckily I've found a great dentist. more

My entire family sees Dr. Short and we couldn't be happier! I have had many crowns and even a bridge done by Dr. Short and nowhere I have been before has met the standards set by his office. During each visit I am met with kindness and patience and true caring for the well-being of my teeth. The office staff is always willing to handle the financial and insurance end of things and work with me on payments. I highly recommend this office for whatever your dental needs may be. more

I've been through so many dentists and had almost given up on finding the right one. I did some research and decided to try Des Peres Dentristy because of all the good reviews this office has received -- and because it was really close to my workplace. \r \r I have to say, this place is total awesomesauce!! Dr. Short's work is impeccable and the entire staff is extremely professional. The receptionist has such a positive attitude and explains your insurance information thoroughly. First off I have to say, even though I do look at review sites, I have never written my own review...of anything. I am trying to turn over a new leaf.\r Since I used a couple review sites to find this office(beyond a friend's referral), I thought I would give my own. I was a little nervous, becuase they did ask for my CC# to reserve my time. They said as long as I gave 24 hours notice for cancelling or rescheduling nothing would ever be charged...if I didn't show up there would be $40 charge. Like anyone I hate to give my CC info, but I did it, and all was fine. Although nothing special to look at from the outside, the inside was done very nice, clean, updated, and modern. I did have about a 5 minute wait beyond my appointment time, I can handle that. They seemed busy, and Amanda who cleaned my teeth, did apologize for my wait. Not needed, but appreciated. My cleaning was really good, seemed very thourough, and they did have camera that could take pictures of my teeth, which I thought was cool. Maybe a lot of offices have these, my old office didnt so it was new to me. After Amanda was finished, Dr. Short came in. He was very nice, seemed very down to earth, not pushy. I have not had any 'work' done at the office yet, but I can say I am happy I took a leap of faith and tried a new office after going to the same one for many years. So far...4.5 thumbs up for Des Peres Dentistry! more

Had a great experience here. I normally loathe going to the dentist, and was very hesitant at first to go to Des Peres Dentistry. However, taking the advice of a coworker I went and was astonished. Dr. Short and his staff provide a very relaxed atmosphere and are easygoing, yet professional in all that they do. I never felt suckered into anything, and was very impressed with both him and his staff. Will definitely be back! more

Dr. Short is a first-class dentist who is both professional and personable. From the moment you walk into his office you are greeted by friendly smiles at the front desk. My dental cleaning made me feel cleaner than I had ever felt at a bi-annual visit at any other dentist. I left not only with a clean mouth but with oral health tips on how to prevent issues with my gums. This past March, Dr. Short generously offered to volunteer his professional skills to provide dental cleanings and screenings for homeless women who are residents of Shalom House. Our clients felt SO comfortable and were given access to oral health care that is very rare and hard to find if you are in a position of homelessness. Thank you Dr. Short for extending dental services to women who might not otherwise receive it!! more

Dr. Short and his staff are exceptional! They do a great job of making you feel comfortable. The staff is very professional. I never have enjoyed the dentist but I don't even think twice about going now! I am thankful to have a dentist to go to myself and to bring my family to that I trust. What a great experience. I do not recommend this dentist. My husband and I went here when we first moved to St. Louis about 1.5 years ago. I actually always enjoy the dentist, and am always sure to go every 6 months. I have only had one cavity in my life, and my husband hasn't had any. We go to Des Peres Dentistry, and for one, the Dentist was late (i understand, it happens), but two, my husband was told he had 2 cavities and I was told I had 3!! I just didn't feel quite right about it, as we had both been to our past dentist 6 months prior with a clean bill of health. We waited 6 months, found another dentist, got the full x-rays and everything, and NEITHER one of us had ANY cavities! I feel like DPD focuses on cosmetic dentistry, and is worried about the bottom line, as to overcall cavities. We have not gone back, and have since continued every 6 month check-ups with our new dentist (who we both love), and each time, have rave reviews on our teeth. Just be careful in what you're told you need here!! more

I just want to tell everyone I had the best dental experience ever. Starting with my initial call. Christie worked with my travel schedule to get me in. Amanda the hygienist was so PAINLESS compared to other cleanings I've had. She explained everything, I even got a warm neck wrap and could watch TV if I wanted. Amanda showed me on the TV my teeth so I could see what I needed. When Dr. Short came in he was very nice. He did not try and push me into having work done. The office is very up to date on everything. They make you feel very welcomed. more

a) they are booked through april..so if you're due for your six month cleaning, not the place for you! b) they want your credit card number if you make an appt, because they charge twenty five dollars if you are a no show. while I understand the purpose of the practice and they SAY they make reminder calls, between the high volume of appts and people just plain forgetting because their appts are so far in the future, I'm just not comfortable doing that…. more

My biggest complaint about going to a doctor or dentist is sitting in the waiting room for 30 minutes to an hour after my scheduled appointment. Then, when I finally do get called back, the staff acts like my being there is an imposition on their life…WELL THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT DES PERES DENTISTRY! From the moment I met the staff they were all very professional and accommodating. Everyone was very thorough from the hygienist to the doctor. I will highly recommend Des Peres Dentistry to my family, friends and co-workers. more

Visiting Dr. Short's office in Troy has always been a positive experience for me. His staff have always been very accommodating, professional, and friendly. After suffering from a toothache for several days I contacted his office and they quickly found an appointment for me. Upon being examined by Dr. Short, he informed me that I needed a root canal. I've been going to J.B. Short's Dentistry for a couple of years now and it has been the best experience. I can now say that I enjoy going to the dentist. Dr. Short, his hygienist, and receptionist are so warm and welcoming. \r \r Last year I had to get a crown and the process was quick and pain free and Dr. Short and his staff made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. They provide top notch customer service and I always leave with nice clean teeth and a smile on my face. \r \r I only refer the BEST, so if you're looking for a new dentist, J.B.
