We bought a walker and a diabetes monitor and kit for my Mom at Dermer about a year ago. They were helpful and had everything we needed. We gave them my Mom's insurance information and cards. They asked us if she met her Medicare co-pay and I told them that she did, because she went to the doctor about a month before that and paid her $100 deductible in cash, for the year. Everything should have been covered after that so we didn't have to pay anything. They also told us that she didn't have to pay anything.
About a year later, she ran out of her diabetic testing supplies, so I went back to Dermer for more. They tried to tell me that she owed them $100 because I guess their claim got sent in before her doctor's. I showed them the receipt where she paid the doctor, but they told us we had to pay them and then get it back from the doctor. That would be impossible, because her doctor retired and we have no idea where he is. How is she supposed to know who's claim Medicare will receive first? I ended up leaving without her supplies, and she had to go crazy trying to get them someplace else. They never sent her any kind of letter telling her about his problem until AFTER I brought it to their attention, and then they sent her a collection letter. This whole experience got my 80 year old mother very upset for nothing. We will never go there again!
