Mundane food, high priced - Denny's would be a better choice. The building is nice - too bad the food is terrible. Maybe they will go out of business soon and a real restaurant will open there ( but PLEASE no more Mexican!!). Pros: nice old building Cons: food more

Awful...avoid it...period. 7/19/2007

We had dinner at this place while visiting Yakima recently. There was a ?folk music? festival going on at the time. The Depot offered a ?special? menu for the occasion. The menu had a few appetizer options like artichoke dip (approx.$7) and nachos (approx. $11), both of which our table ordered. Entrees included lemon chicken, steak, pansit (an oriental stir-fry, noodle dish with shrimp or chicken), teriyaki chicken wings with fried rice, a burger with potato salad, a couple of other options and then a $6 slice of cheesecake or something else for dessert. I had the wings, my wife had the pansit and another guest had the lemon chicken with broccoli. The nachos arrived on a small plate and consisted almost entirely of black olives and cheese (perhaps Italian nachos?). There was very little meat and the serving size was weak given that this was the most expensive appetizer on the menu. Meanwhile, the music blaring from the front room was loud enough to give you a headache even though we were seated in the back of the larger space, the main area of the converted train depot. When the entree arrived, I almost sent it back immediately. I wish now that I had trusted my instincts. The ?fried rice? was clearly a mushy, tasteless, instant version like Rice-a-Roni. The teriyaki wings were worse. They tasted like the bulk flavored, frozen wings you get at the grocery store, which were baked in an oven and then smothered in an awful hyper-sweet teriyaki sauce. My wife?s ?pansit? was reminiscent of Ramen noodles with tiny shrimp scattered in, tails still attached, like they too had been dropped out of a frozen bag. Our other guest?s lemon chicken was covered in a congealed cream sauce, and his broccoli was raw. The dinner rolls served in a basket with the meal were slimy/doughy in the middle like they had not been properly thawed and thoroughly warmed. If I?ve ever had a more terrible meal in my life, I don?t remember it. Pros: The soft drinks were normal Cons: You name it...gross food, bad atmosphere more
