Went to Dr. Kuo for a checkup. Was told I had deep gum pockets, many 6, and 7, even 8mm. Also told I needed other work, and was quoted a total bill that was extremely high. Went to two other dentists in the area and was quoted a total bill that was literally a thousand less. Was also told I needed arestin treatments (an antibiotic injected into the gums in order to reduce the pockets.) Was told this was a preferable alternative to surgery. Also got a second opinion on my gums from a periodontist, and was told my gum pockets were no deeper than 5mm at worst. Was also informed by this periodontist that arestin should NOT be considered an alternative to surgery, and was further told that, in my case, it was not needed. \r
Also called Kuos office to speak to a hygienist about my gums, and was told theyd be in the office the next day until 5. Called at 3 and was told theyd left for the day, but that I could call back tomorrow. When I called back was told theyd just stepped out but would call me before they left for the day. They never did. Would not recommend this dentist to anyone. Was also told by someone theyre under investigation for overcharging. Have no idea if that is true or not, but if it is true, it would not surprise me considering how expensive they are compared to other dentists in the area for the same treatments. Also, after I clearly stated on the form who my insurance was, they submitted the claim to a completely different insurance company, then acted like they had no idea how that could have happened.
Pros: nice office, friendly manner
Cons: outrageously high prices, poor about returning phone calls, submitting claims
