I have been a server for years and have never once provided service even close to the incompetence I was faced with at Denny's.\r
We wait and wait to be seated when there is little business. Our server attempts to take our food and drink orders and once, but we wait for our drinks then order two meals and a sundae. We usually expect to wait 20 minutes for our food here and it is always cold, but that's the price people who work late shifts have to pay, right? Our server does not know the menu and cannot read, ""served with fries or two substitutes."" I say I want the fries, seasoned. She then comes back to the table to ask my husband (while I'm in the restroom) what other side I want. She comes back to ask me. I want seasoned fries. I ask for my sundae to-go because I have not gotten it after 20 minutes.\r
After 30 minutes our food arrives. I have a huge mound of regular, not seasoned fries. I ask for some seasoned fries to be made. We also ask for the check, to-go boxes, and my sundae since we have spent too much time there. Our server checks her book (she had to write down two orders) in an attempt to prove I made the mistake.\r
We get the check and have not gotten the milkshake. Fortunately, it is not calculated in the bill, however, I have been surcharged twice for the seasoned fries. Although I only wanted one order I got surcharged for two. The server told me that the meal (which was obviously tossed frozen into the fryer) comes with two sides and I wanted double fries, so I got charged 11 dollars for my bed of fries, on which four shriveled sticks of fish were served.\r
She asked if we wanted to see a manager and said no, we will just pay and leave, but the manager wobbled over defensively to our table anyway to back up our illiterate server.\r
If you don't know, the surveillance cameras at Denny's on Harbison also record video and audio of their dining tables, however I doubt Big Brother at corporate has taken any action regarding the pitiful service.
