Night is the best... 3/16/2006

You look out over the river from the Delta King and the lights of other boats reflect sort of a New Orleans feel to Sacramento. I never knew so many boats were in the river at night. They aren't moving fast, just languishing in the water. On a summer's night it's beautiful. I did a show here one time. Intermission was the best for me; I'd sit out on the stern watching them boats. more

Very romantic!! 10/5/2005

We arrived just before sunset and were early (before our reservations). The hostess had no problem with sitting us down early and informing our waitress we were there. The bread was great, the wine was great, service was awesome! At first I was disappointed because the pyramid was blocking our view, but we still got a good view. Then they sat someone between us and our great view!! I couldnt believe it, but we dealt with it and still had fun. The Steak was perfect, the Seafood Ciopinni (sp?) was good too. Valet parking is a rip off, just find a spot in Old Sac or even park in the garage. more

So romantic 8/19/2005

This place is so romantic, it's scary. Not too pricey, but just right. The food is the best ever, and with a beautiful view of the river. There's a really classy bar on top, and you can always take a walk around the deck and check out the beautiful river view. A great thing to do here is to just order one serving, and split it, and split an appetizer. That's always worked well, and then I have a romantic dinner and great food. more

Unmistakable ambiance and unremarkable food 8/17/2005

Nothing says class like eating on a river boat turned into a hotel and restaurant. Except when it comes to eating substandard food there. The Delta King is really an odd blend of an absolutely amazing atmosphere and setting, but it seems like they spent all their money on that, and none on the cooking. I honestly don't remember anything I ate there, only that I didn't think it was very good. Bland is the only word that comes to mind. My wife had some seafood, but it wasn't very good either. This is one of those places you should eat at exactly once. Just to say that you have. more

  • In Short
The Delta King is an old paddlewheel boat that has been transformed into a hotel and restaurant. Lucky patrons are pampered as they gaze out the windows onto the murky but charming Sacramento River below. Lunch and dinner are fairly subdued and elegant, and diners can enjoy house specialties like the Fisherman's Stew, a fancy Caesar salad, and many pasta and seafood specials.
