I saw Dr. Luke and his daughter, Dr. Leslie, for my dogs' annual check up yesterday, and the experience reaffirmed why I have chosen them as my dog care providers. First, the ve...

unhygienic practice 10/25/2007

I brought my kitten to this facility only because they were the only ones who would take him on short notice. a coworker found him and I wanted to get him checked out before I brought him home. When I arrived the place was very unclean and had bad smell. When the doctor checked my kittens temperature he reached for a thermometer that was sitting out on the table. He then brushed it clean with just his fingers and used it on my cat. I was astonished. He didn't even use a cleaning solution or a new thermometer. I will never take my cat back there and I would not recommend this vet to anyone else. more

Great animal care! 9/18/2007

I've been going to Delta for a long time and they care very much about the well being of your animals. He saved my dogs life after he was attacked by another dog, he had to keep him there over night and he didnt hardly charge me anything, He gave meds to take home and a follow up appointment. If i would've went any where else they would have charged me an arm and a leg and wouldnt have cared about my dog as much as the Dr's and staff at Delta Animal Hospital. Pros: very caring, affordable and trusting. Cons: they need a bigger space. more

Good, if you have proper expectations 6/9/2007

Yes, I have seen more modern, ""clean"" facilities, but the place is just a little old and run-down. They don't spend a lot on amenities, but the place is OK. It does not smell any worse than any other vet's office I've been to. When you have animals cages in the back of the building, do you not expect to hear barking? They obviously don't have a separate boarding ""wing.""\r \r I have been taking my dogs there for about 5 years now, and the doctor is knowledgeable about their health needs. They are gentle when bl**d tests are taken and are comprehensive about ensuring shots are up to date, heartworm testing takes place and proper dental care is performed. Overall, I have nothing to complain about. I could go to a more swanky place like so many people in Chicago feel they must do, but it's inexpensive and they take good care of the animals. That's all I need. Pros: Good care for dogs and cats, inexpensive, thorough examinations Cons: Facilities are a little run-down - old building more

I do not recommend anyone bring their animals here-I give it a -0 rating. This place is filthy and this Vet is breeding felines for money. Contact any agencies you know to investigate. HELP! 4/9/2007

Please someone read this and save the animals in this disgusting place. There is no special room for contagious animals, everyone housed together-dogs and cats yelping and crying out. He uses only a shot when he spays the animals- no general anaesthesia, and charges $30 for kittens he says have been brought in from the street. Not true-he has 3 cats in the back cages he uses over and over for breeding because he says they make beautiful kittens. He says they are free then charges money for their shots. He has no breeders license. He will lie to avoid getting in trouble. Can someone help? It is dirty, the place smells-How has this place passed a health inspection? Cons: Smelly, dirty, he is breeding felines which is highly unethical with the overpopulation we have already, and he is no friend to your animal. more

Horrible facility 10/17/2006

The smell was absolutely unbearable. Puppies yelped and kittens screeched, it was straight out of a horror film. I brought my ferret there to have his eye examined - this vet was NOT knowledgeable about ferrets at all, even though he told me he was over the telephone. He gave me a liquid to rub into my ferret's eye on a daily basis...it was a dog eye-gel, which ferrets should NEVER have due to the possibility of ingestion. For the love of God, please, do not bring your pets here, it's a real horror house. Pros: Pretty cheap but NOT worth your time Cons: facility stinks, animals are treated poorly, dr. is a crock more

If you love your pet, DON'T take them to Delta! 11/15/2005

It is truly unfortunate that there is such a place as this...You bring in a sick pet, the vet tells you it needs to stay overnight for observation (not true! - the facility closes in the early evening, therefore no one is there to watch your pet overnight), and when you come to pick up your beloved pet the next day, they return it to you filthy and literally covered in their own crap...Such unsanitary conditions do not help your pet get better any faster...They claim in their ad that they are low cost - this is not the case, and yet they ask you how much you paid for your pet, as if to charge you based on that...There are other vets in the city whose facilities are very clean and you get supreme quality vet services for around the same price, if not cheaper... more

BAD VET PRACTICE! 8/30/2005

My cat had an eye infection so I took him to Delta Animal Hospital for the first time. The place smelled horrible and was obviously filthy. The vet said my cat's eyes and ears needed to be flushed out but would not let me stay in the room while he cleaned them. He gave me medication for my cat's eyes, which so far does not appear to be helping. On top of all that, he charged me twice as much as my old vet would have. Needless to say, from now on I'll go back to my old vet which is now out of the way but worth taking my cats there so their health is well looked after. PROS: CONS: BAD, UNSANITARY AND EXPENSIVE more
