Avoid this place. I was shocked, not by the building which appears to be in good condition, not by the residents because every place of this type will have some extreme dementia cases, but because of the absolute ghetto behavior of their nursing staff. Yelling. Throwing and slamming charts down. Having tantrums and shouting at residents. IN FRONT OF A VISITOR, acting rude, mocking and loudly belittling other staff. I was there a good hour and I did not see so much as one iota of professional decorum. more

So many things wrong here 9/28/2011

I want to concur with the review that said the building and grounds were lovely. They still are. The staff, however, are another matter. The administration are the rudest people--and it wasn't to me. I witnessed how they talk to their employees, a poor aide who was running to answer all the call lights and still be in the dining room to serve lunch while 7 other people, nurses I guess, were out smoking. They work the nurse's aides very short and talk to them like dogs. The office people had a girl in there and she was asking about working extra shifts; mid conversation, the supervisor or whoever, picks up the phone and simply starts talking to someone else and made a shooing motion with her hand to the girl. Behind the desk on the Specialized Care Unit, this large woman with a headband was sitting on the phone and cramming food into her face while another lady was trying to walk two people to their dining room. The patients haven't even eaten yet and she was sitting on the phone snacki more

couldn't rank any lower 7/2/2006

When my dad was in Delmar Gardens, I was their daily. At that time it was over $4000 a month and I'm not sure what for. When we got their in the morning (9) .. he was dirty and hadn't been cleaned. The excuse was always they were short staffed -- couldn't find enough people. But the cost didn't go down. We cleaned him. He was on a feeding tube so he didn't go to the eating area. Usually we fed him. They did very little for him. If we rang for help it was often an hour before someone even stuck their head in the door. People would be crying and yelling in their rooms and no one seemed to care. BUT.. walk in the front door and it looks beautiful... lovely decor. Very lousy care. We chose it because of location and it was a huge mistake. I wouldn't put my worst enemy there. more
