The Decatur Library is a great, but under appreciated community resource. It's located in downtown Decatur, near the square, in a clean and modern building. The library has a nice computer room upstairs, which allows any Dekalb resident free internet access for half an hour a day. The library also has a nice reading room with a nice collection of up to date magazines and newspapers. It has a weak collection of cd's on site, but this is because the County system has a library on memorial that's devoted solely to Audio visual materials. But you can get into the Dekalb Library web site and reserve any item to be picked up at the library nearest you. For the most part, I buy my books now, but I still use the library to check out expensive books--art books, home design books, etc. I also make ample use of their cd collection. The library also has authors speak regularly and allows community organizations to use their meeting rooms.
