I DO NOT recommend Deborah McNeal Accounting Services in Rocky Mount. Deborah McNeal was supposed to file my tax return by the 15th. When I did not receive my refund I called the IRS. They had nothing on file. I called Deborah McNeal and she stated that she had filed the return and she doesn?t know what happened. I believe she forgot to file my tax return. Something about her office just seemed unorganized but due to the 15th approaching soon I decided to use her services. Even if the electronic file was accepted on the 15th it still was not complete. After she supposedly resubmitted the return she said I needed to sign a form 8453. I don?t understand how she thought everything had been completed when she had not given me form 8453 to sign and mail. She did not even use professional tax preparer software. She used TaxAct Online Electronic Filing. I emailed that company to see if a return had previously been submitted before the 15th. There was no previous submission and was stated she should have used their professional software and not used the consumer online system. I had request a refund for half the money paid for her service. She said that she would compensate me in some way but I have not heard a response. I was very surprised when I found an article about her not paying her own taxes. Judge Kristin H. Ruth sentenced McNeal to 45 days in jail. The sentence was suspended and McNeal was placed on supervised probation for 24 months. She was also ordered to pay $7,766 in restitution to the Department of Revenue during the period of her probation and remain current filing all tax returns. An investigation by a special agent with the Department found that McNeal, doing business as Deborah McNeal Accounting Services in Rocky Mount, willfully failed to file her own North Carolina individual income tax returns for 2001 through 2006. I was very unhappy with her service considering I paid $285.00 for my return not to be filed before April 15th.\r
