De Vega Brothers

From Mill Valley visiting Stockton. Restaurant is a very nice clean place. Good portions and friendly staff. The food is better than most places in Stockton and the staff takes care to make you feel at home. Location is not the best, but its worth the effort to find it. more

De Vega Brothers has to be one of the most over priced and over-rated places in Stockton. Service was exceptionally slow (the place was NOT full), small portions for food, $3.00 charge to split a plate between two people, and bad ambiance. \r \r I had the scalloped sauteed, and even though it was pretty tasty, the small portion given ruined it for me. The cheese-cake was nothing exceptional, and was also given in a small portion. In fact, nothing on their menu looked very interesting, and I have never been to such a quiet restaurant. It was a strange dining experience. \r \r I am definitely not making another trip to De Vega Brothers, and I wouldn't recommend you making that trip either. more

I've been to this restaraunt twice, once for lunch and once for dinner and had two different and equally unsatisfying experiences. First of all the menu is boring and over priced, and if you subsitute anything there is a pretty hefty charge ($3.00 for a side salad which consisted of a very small handful of ice berg lettuce carelessly tossed on the plate with the entre and 1 tomato wedge instead of french fries? Ridiculous.) Secondly, I found the staff to be snippy and condesending, and we didn't ask for any thing out of the ordinary. Maybe I just happened to be there on a couple of bad days. Although the place is pretty, it seems that they think a little too highly of themselves. In my opinion, it's not worth it, and I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone else.
