Before becoming a tour guide, Marcus was a commercial fisherman in the Atchafalaya Basin and lived on a houseboat there for ten years. He is still driving his authentic flat-bottom crawfish boat on tour today the same way he did as a fisherman. He goes right through the shallow hard to reach cypress tree grooves and plows through what appears to be a floating mat of aquatic plants. Every turn creates anticipation of what is around the bend and he fills in very detailed information about culture, history, environment, wildlife, Louisiana politics, and weaves it all into and around his Cajun humor stand up comedy. The scenic beauty of Lake Martin is very well known worldwide and did not disappoint. At the end of the tour just as we were finding great photo opportunities with moss draped cypress silhouetted against a gorgeous sunset the egrets and ibis began to fly through the scene capping off a wonderful afternoon in nature. Please call him for directions to Lake Martin because the map here was totally inaccurate. Actually Marcus said the map was to a residence he occupied years ago. It is best if you make reservations before going to the lake.
