I love Italian food. My girlfriends and I love to go to Deangelos. The last few times we went the calzones have gotten smaller and smaller. The sensation salad my friend got was so small it was embarrassing. I am finding that the other Italian restaurants are giving a better quality and value. I won't be back for awhile. Deangelo's is one of the best pizza and Italian restaurants I have ever been to. The pizza has an excellent NY-style crust, not too thick or thin, with wonderful olive oil flavor and delicious sauce. You can top it with an extensive list of toppings, including some more exotic items like fresh basil, roasted garlic, feta, sun-dried tomatoes, etc. But not only are their pizzas great, their Italian specialties are fantastic, too! From the spaghetti & meatballs (with garlicky, spicy meatballs and loads of tomato sauce) to the home-baked lasagna (with Bolognese sauce and swimming in Marinara), to the Asiago chicken Ceasar salad (huge!), you can't go wrong. Deangelo's Pizzeria Co. has four family owned locations in Baton Rouge, but the Coursey Blvd. location stands out by far. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner or for large groups. For the best Italian: pizzas, calzones, pastas, and the best salads; Deangelo's Pizzeria Co. reins supreme.
