A Good Company To Do Business With \r

It was not that hot when our heat pump went out, so I had the time for some research. Once I learned what was available, I decided to upgrade to a variable speed compressor because it was quiet, comfortable, and efficient. After I came across a Consumers Reports reliability study, I got four estimates from local contractors for the highest rated heat pumps. \r
\r
I decided to go with the Trane XV 18 and Dayco, even though it was a little more than the lowest estimate. All of the units I considered were excellent, but I picked the Trane XV 18 because it was the quietest, and Dayco seemed like a good company to do business with. \r

I gave Ken Day the go-ahead on a Sunday. On Monday two Dayco technicians came and installed a temporary unit in a couple of hours. None of the other contractors had offered to install a temporary unit, but it had gotten hot and the temporary unit was much appreciated. The technicians came back on Thursday and installed XV 18 in one day; they did super job and were very careful in protecting our carpets and furniture. \r

It's now been a couple of weeks since the installation, and although it hasn't been very hot, I know I made the right choice. The compressor is so quiet that you simply cannot hear that it is running, even though it's close to a bedroom window. And since the indoor fan is also a variable speed, there is no air flow noise. It feels like the unit is never running. \r
\r
In conclusion, Dayco has been great; and I like our Trane XV 18 so much that I'm actually glad that noisy, 20-year old Carrier finally went out. \r
