If you don't have time to read my whole review just know that the manager and the owner of this spa are completely indifferent to your experience or concerns. You may encounter some wonderful employees - the estheticians especially, but if you are looking to be taken care of, or maybe even pampered for a day, this is not the place. As a spa, it has a lot of potential - lovely decor, soft lighting, soothing music, and some great employees. But a business is only as good as the people who own and operate it, and I am afraid that you will be very disappointed by your experience.
I contacted this spa to schedule a full day of pampering. I was assured by phone that my day would be an 'escape', with all the little extras that make a spa day so special, like being cuddled up in a robe and slippers with little snacks and hot tea.
My experience was far different. I was the ONLY client that day, and as soon as I was taken back I realized that the promises on the phone were not the reality of what they offered. Forget the robe & slippers, and all they offered for refreshment was some coffee, a pitcher of warm water and some hard pre-packaged granola bars. (Upon check out I realized that I was actually charged an additional fee to enjoy these 'little extras'.)
Now, my facial was a true escape! The esthetician was amazing. She was knowledgeable and cared for my skin with great skill and a gentle touch. But, she also made me feel pampered and with her I was able to really relax and enjoy that part of my experience.
Unfortunately, the nail area was next. The young girl who did my manicure and pedicure was obviously new and clipped and sawed at my nails like one of the cheap places in the mall. She also rushed through the massage and actually used a pedicure chair that was not working properly. Even though there were three empty, fully functioning chairs. She assured me that "most people don't like the massage while they are getting their pedicure". ( I am actually one of the people who does enjoy a working massage chair!) She also assured me that the chair would be working NEXT WEEK. I am not sure how that was supposed to make me feel since I don't get to go to the spa very often and I was paying for TODAY. The other problem I had here was that the polish was poorly applied and bubbled up within minutes and then started chipping the next day.
Sadly, as this experience was taking place I kept trying to make the most of it. My facial was great and I tried to convince myself that the little things just didn't matter. But as I was checking out the receptionist asked me how my experience was and I decided to share my concerns about the nail tech and the situation with the chair. From this point on the manager Julie was rude and indifferent. My efforts to contact the owner and make her aware of the situation were ignored and kicked back to the same manager who failed to return eight phone calls over a six week period. . It may not sound like it here, but I am not a nasty person. I don't yell and make demands. I tried to handle this through the proper channels and I gave them the opportunity to correct these issues. I didn't ask for compensation, although my last attempt to contact Jill -the owner- was met with an offer to give me 15 dollars off my next service. What she doesn't understand is that I will not be booking another service with them and I will make sure that I warn anyone that I know that these women do not care about their customers. This kind of disregard destroys customer loyalty.
Sadly, while I was in the shop waiting on my appointment I overheard the receptionist take three calls canceling appointments. At the time I thought it was probably because of the economy, but now I know it could very well have been because of the management.
Pros: Use of good products & some amazing employees
Cons: Management & Indifference
