The restaurant was empty, yet crumbs and grease streaked the table. Somebody couldn't be bothered to clean up. Not a good first impression.
Davis Street Fishmarket is known for its fresh fish, but we were disappointed on all counts. An appetizer of New Bedford Clam Strips was three parts fried dough to one part clam. The Steamed Maine Whole Lobster was overcooked and a little tough, sweet but too chewy. The tin of drawn butter was dotted with mysterious unappetizing flecks.
Grilled Sea Scallops and Sea Bass were merely satisfactory. No special spices or touch of sea salt to enhance flavor -- just the same old drawn butter. The seafood itself was edible, but more Red-Lobster than fresh fish market.
Pros: Good bread
Cons: Fish is merely mediocre, Greasy tabletops
