I called Davis for service as my AC was not working. They states a service call charge of $89. After He got to the hourse stated that the price for parts as follows $195 for capacitor that was the burnt out. He then pressured me to have the contactor changed as well, he said it will go out soon and that they will have to come back and charge me another service call of $89 if he has to come out again. The parts price for contactor he stated was $170. I had them replace parts assuming that I am being charged a reasonable marked up amount for the parts. he had me sign a blank customer approval of repair which I did assuming I am being charged a reasonable marked up amount for the parts. In all I was charged $435 I later came to find out that the retail price for capacitor is <$50 and the retail price for the contactor is <$30. So I was charged $365 for parts that retail for less than $80. After the fact I called two other hvac service companies in town and they quoted me price for the same work would be no more that $250. I do not mind a mark up on parts but 400% markup is rediculous I called Davis to complain about their price gouging and they were not interested in resolving anything. On their website they highly tout customer satisfaction guarantee, but they were not interested guranteeing my satisfaction. The manager even had the odacity to state that "They know what the cost of the parts are and what they charged me was their published prices that they charge all their customers, not just me"
