For my 11/12/11 wedding I got my dress from David's Bridal in Yonkers. I wanted a simple sheath dress and the higher end boutiques were constantly trying to push poofy princess and/or mermaid dresses on me for over the top prices. As a result, I went to David's Bridal and got the simple and classy dress I was looking for. When the dress arrived it looked great but was far too big, so some alterations, as per usual, were needed. When I picked up my dress a week before my wedding, I immediately noticed a small hole by the zipper when I tried it on. This was fixed and I thought that would be the end of my problems. Unfortunately I noticed another hole in the bodice the Thursday before the wedding, but it ended up being okay because it was in an area that was more fitted and as a result not noticeable when on. I thought that would be the end of this nonsense, but then I noticed another hole in the lace the Friday before my wedding, on top of that a pin was also dangling amidst the layers of the fabric. At that point it was too late to do anything about it (it was Friday evening) so I just had to hope it would be okay when on. I tried my best to forget about it and get some rest. The next day as I put my dress on I was was shaking, not because I was nervous about getting married, but because of the fear that the dress would fall a part on me and not look right. Fortunately, it ended up looking good, but the stress I felt before my wedding was awful. I have formally complained to David's Bridal's corporate office and am fighting to be reimbursed for the over $300 I spent on the alterations. If you do get your dress from David's Bridal I recommend getting it altered elsewhere. I understand that this store is not a high end boutique, but regardless I paid good money and should have a received a perfect final product. Lastly, I would have given this store no stars if allowed.
edit to add: David's Bridal Corporate will not reimburse me for their awful alterations because the Yonkers store never recorded my complaints, despite the fact that I reported one hole in person when I picked up my dress another when I call the Thursday before my wedding. The Yonkers store never called me back after I returned a call from them so I went ahead and got my dress preserved (almost a month after the wedding). I finally heard from their ""customer service"" rep. yesterday and she requested that I bring the dress to the store, open it and ruin the preservation so they could see the damage. They would then send it out to be preserved again. It cost me over $100 to get my dress preserved so I was not about to ruin it and entrust David's Bridal to do it again. I cannot stress enough to all brides DO NOT GO TO DAVID'S BRIDAL and if you do, do not trust them to do your alterations.
