Dave's Comics & Cards

If you read Marvel comic books, then chances are you've seen ads for Dave's Comics. From the ads, you would think that Dave's is a large shop overflowing with comics. Unfortunately, while they may have a large selection available via mail order, most of their stock is kept in storage and is unavailable for browsing. What they do have in the store are a variety of toys, posters, books, t-shirts, graphic novels, etc. etc. Lots of manga. The most popular current comics, and a few rows of the "standards" for browsing (Marvel and DC mostly). But if you're hunting for a particular back issue, save yourself the trip and contact them via their ad, since you won't be able to rummage through the stock anyway. more

Dave’s Comics has been advertising nationally for nearly thirty years in the very pages of comic books that they carry in strong supply. If you’re looking for a mainstream Marvel or DC back issue, then Dave’s Comics is where you go if you’re willing to pay top price. Many books seem to be sold at Overstreet Guide plus prices, which means I’m not going in there too often. Also, the hefty $20 subscription box down payment system is a little sketchy and outdated. A trip to Dave’s Comics isn’t complete with at least a little guilt thrown your way for not using them regularly. So remember, you only go to Dave’s once you’ve looked everyplace else first. And if you’re looking for some hot independent title, it’s probably best not to go there at all. more
