I have never had better BBQ anywhere. You just can't go wrong here. Ribs, brisket, pork, chicken. The restaurant is hidden away but it's worth hunting it down. more

GREAT BBQ 1/29/2010

I have been to Dave Poe's several times, this is the only place I will eat BBQ in the atlanta area. The tatar tots are very good, the MAC & CHEESE is like non other. Finally, some great BBQ near downtown Marietta 4/26/2009

Great smoked BBQ! It's tough to beat the smoke flavor at this joint. The sides are all excellent! Be sure to try the "grown-up" mac and cheese and the brunswick stew. I'm a big fan of collard greens and they have some of the best around when you don't get a plate full of stems. They do close a little early for folks who like to work a little later but it does seem like they adjusted the hours to a later 8 PM close for the summer. Don't bother ordering the BBQ pork sandwich. It hardly has any meat on it for a whopping $4.95 with no sides. But all of the plates are reasonably priced and I bet they'd give you a bun for cheap if you're really looking for a sammy. The BBQ sauce is pretty good, but sometimes a bit too sweet for my taste. Don't know why anyone bothers with the mustard based sauce. This ain't North Carolina! Pros: smoked meats, mac and cheese, collard greens Cons: closes early, closed Sunday, pricing on some menu items more

SIMPLY THE BEST 12/27/2008

I have bbq all my life,but now I have finally found the best. The sauce is perfect. Its a little bit sweet and spicey at the same time, but not too sweet or spicey. The smoked meat could be eaten all by itself ,and TENDER, man its so easy to eat. The baked beans are dark and a little sweet,,,HMMM.. Their mac and cheese,,well you just have to try it ,and you will see... I love this location also,,,but wish they would build a BBQ3 near HIRAM,GA. But its worth the miles...This place is great for catering ...We used to use the other local BBQ places for our work place catering, but Now its only BBQ2 ,Sam and Daves.... more

ribs are often BURNT 1/2/2008

the people there were attentive and polite, however, the ribs were overcooked to the point of BURNT...have experienced their food in the past usually with good results (the macaroni and cheese is tremendous and the french fries are way above the usual...i was extremely disappointed in the BURNT ribs that i exposed my out of town company to...it was definitely not worth the distance (25 miles) that i had to drive to get there, and would be hesitant to make that drive again. Pros: MACARONI AND CHEESE Cons: BURNT RIBS more

Award winning BBQ!!! 8/15/2007

The owners do the BBQ national circuit and they have this "hole-in-the-wall" establishment to help cover the costs of their passion for BBQ and boy do they do it good!!! The Pulled Pork is AWESOME and the Brisket is unbelievable. There meat is never greasy, very tender and the portions a very large. The service has always been great, ask for a sample and you may get a free plate of ribs. They are everything you expect from a Southern BBQ restaurant. The atmosphere isn't the best, but they focus on the food there. If you put this place anywhere upscale it would be packed all day long, their location is kind of out-of-the-way off Whitlock in Marietta. Pros: the meat cooked to perfection Cons: the ambience is the only thing that hurts this place more
