Okay lets get things straight, if they didn't care they wouldn't show up to u-mass.\r since they probably don't know who pulls the fire alarm they probably should hold every one accountable for it, you should know that is considered as a felony offense.\r as for not wearing gear and a SCBA well let me tell you thats a lie, and your just making that department sound careless, because i have been at u-mass when they had to show up and they do wear SCBA unless there's a confirmed false alarm by the u-mass police. as for personal vehicles lighted up like christmas trees well if you had to respond to a call on rte6 in heavy traffic your vehicle would be lighted up like a christmas tree too, even though no one moves out of the way anyways.\r so in other words you obviously dont know what you are talking about and you sound like a little nieeve old lady that has to complain about every thing.\r and it's not a ''Vollie'' Department it's on call part time/ with some full time if you lived in the town you would know. I'm going to have to say that this fire department is well below average on its safety standards within the department. They respond to calls without full gear on, half of them without SCBA bottles, going against national protocols and NFPA 1500, the Health and Safety standards. They are inconsiderate to many people, especially students at the UMD campus who are not responsible for the fire alamrs being pulled. They dont seem to take their jobs seriously when it comes to responding to the campus. Not only that, but have you seen their vehicles? It looks like a christmas tree on top of their personal vehicles they have so many lights. Basically it is a typical vollie department. Lots of lights, little care. They should respect the people they serve, including the college students since most of them are not responsible for the countless fire alarms, and yet they dont. They punish them instead. Its as if these guys are trying to be the very thing firefighters hate: cops. Oh boy, maybe they should be given cruisers instead, plus a donut shop and a feeding trough. they are pigs, arent they? Other than that, they are a good department. :) Pros: Really big expensive trucks. Cons: They don't care about people. more
