Dario's is the BEST!!! 9/15/2010

I discovered Dario's one day as I was driving around La Jolla interviewing salons. I have thick curly difficult hair that I color frequently. Most salons are afraid of my hair and I was looking for a salon that day because the one I had been going to had made it clear they no longer could deal with my hard to manage hair. I walked in and loved them immediately. They are all professional but also kind and caring and made me feel immediately like I was their most important customer. After a couple of months going there, Shannon suggested a Brazilian treatment for my hair and I was hesitant to do it (with my hair nothing ever works!) but finally did it and it has literally changed my whole appearance. With Dario's- I literally now have great hair - something I have never had in my entire life. I strongly recommend them.... more

You will love Dario's 8/21/2010

Finding the right salon and hairdresser is never easy when moving to a new city. I read reviews about several salons and thought I would give Dario's a try. That was 19 months ago and I definitely made the right choice. There are many reasons to love Dario's but the main reason are the people who work there. From the moment you walk in you feel comfortable and have the sense they care about you...which they truly do. They want you to look your best and help you find the color, cut and style that is best for you. Another plus, Dario's does not have the drama that is present in a lot of salons. Truly a great place to hang out and get your hair done. Seach no futher...Dario's is the best. more

Excellent salon 7/5/2010

I found this salon by using City Search and I was not disappointed. I walked in with awful hair and walked out with a new cut and color. The salon even made a follow up call to see if I was satisfied. I have received so many compliments. What a wonderful experience. I would heartily recommend this salon. I wanted to try something new, so I?ve decided to visit Dario Salon, which is located near my house. I?ve asked for an appointment with an experienced hairstylist. I was then offered service by Dario. I was pleasantly surprised by his approach during my initial consultation. I gave him full discretion as to the look he wanted to create. From start to finish I was treated to my highest expectation and Dario transformed my look into exactly desired hairstyle. I?m very pleased that I was able to find someone who has a vision and who knows how to create appropriate finish for ones face. I?m recommending him to everyone who wants to evolve his or her hairstyle to the next level. Pros: great experience more

Dario is the Best!!!! 8/16/2009

Dario is great! I have been getting my hair cut with him for the last four years... Four years ago an intern came to work with amazing hair. She was a walk in to Dario's Salon. I have gone to lots of place in San Diego. From the best neighborhoods and beyond and have been disappointed many times. I went with Dario soon after the intern and had the same results. He is great at cutting hair. Aside from that he is a wonderful person and has a positive outlook on life and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Pros: Great hair more

Best Hair Salon in La Jolla 2/3/2009

I found Dario's salon on the internet. I asked Dario to cut and color my hair however he thought would look best on me. I was so pleased! I like how he took into account my facial shape, skin tone and features, hair textures, even my neck length. The results were amazing. Dario is very professional and extremely knowledgable about hair. I am completely thrilled with their service. And their receptionist Sharon is so polite and helpful!! Great results!! 10/13/2008

I found DS w/my friend Stephanie Audi and walking one day around my job, and to be honest, it could have never been better. I was a little worried the first time I went because I have a very thick wavy short hair. I saw Dario first, gave me an excellent blow-dry. Then on my second visit I had Carlie as a hairdresser, who unfortunately does not work there anymore, and she gave me the most beutiful highlights ever. Carlie blow-dry my hair and like she said at the end ""I looked like Victoria Beckham""... They are awesome, I will never change them for anything. I love the way they do my hair and the prices are average compared it to other hair salons in La Jolla. If you would like to have top of the line hairdress, I strongly recommend you to give them a visit. more

Why go anywhere else!!! 7/20/2008

I had been researching for sometime know not sure if I really wanted to try someone new. I read the reviews over and over again and decide to try Dario's Salon. One of the best choice I have every made from the time I made my appointment to now a week after my appointment there is no other choice for me. Very friendly staff, making sure I was comfortable from the time I walked in to the time I left. From the moment Dario had me sit in the chair, He asked what I thought I wanted to how much time I had to style my hair, then he was able to give me an idea what would look good for me Color wise and what was the best hair cut for my face. He was able to fix my hair color which was several differnt shades of brown and get my unhealthy looking hair to look and feel healthy and simply fantastic. I have recived great reviews from my friends about my hair and I have no problem telling them where the need to go for their hair. I was a bit worry at first if I could style it myself but Dario took the time to explaine my cut and the best way to style it That made it easier for me to style it on my own, of course I wish Dario was here to style my hair for me on a Daily basics but we can't have it all. Why wait put your Hair in Dario's Hands you'll love that you did. Great Staff, Clean atmostpher, fastastic place REALLY why go anywhere else! more

Dario is wonderful!!! 7/6/2008

I recently had the Japanese Straightening the BioIonic done by Dario, and I'm very happy both with the service and my new straight hair. I was impressed upon meeting Dario for my consultation , he is a well spoken gentleman . On the day of my service he was mindful to keep me entertained . I had fun though it took about 5 hours . ( but this job does take a long time as i've read . I think I was lucky with 5 hrs) , and I have to mention that he seems very dedicated to his work. Dario is a great host , he made me feel so welcome as a new client to the salon . He comitted himself to my appointment from start to finish and his assistant was also a pleasant girl. My experience was nothing but great . What I spent was well worth it in service , care and attention . I would Highly Recommend Dario , he is wonderful.\r \r more

Get Your Best Hair EVER! 4/30/2008

I have been all over the world and spent fortunes in great salons form Paris to Tokyo to Los Angeles and never found such talent!\r \r In the past I have experienced haircuts that were mediocre at best and always attributed it to my fine, blonde hair. Guess I just needed someone to understand me... Dario cuts YOUR hair (not the hair that you pointed to in the magazine). I have received so many compliments on my cut since seeing Dario and on top of all that he is sweet as can be.\r \r In addition to looking great upon leaving the salon, Dario paid attention to how much work I wanted to deal with and my cut was the exact level of work I was willing to take on. It also grew out so gracefully! In fact, it looked great for so long that I didn't even realize I needed a hair cut for almost 3 months. I don't recommend waiting that long of course but it is indeed testament to a GREAT cut.\r \r Go! You won't be disappointed!\r \r more

You'll never go anywhere else! 4/18/2008

If you try him once you'll never go anywhere else! I found Dario on citysearch; I've had him do my hair twice (cut, color, and highlights both times) and he is amazing! I was pleasantly surprised at how detailed he was and how much time he took to listen to exactly what I wanted each time I went. Most stylists listen briefly to what you want and the results are usually way off, but you'll never experience that with Dario. Even if you don't know what you want he talks you through each step to help you get the look that is best for you and your hair type. He does most of the work himself unlike other salons that overbook and leave you stranded. Also his assistant Shannon is great! The services are a little pricey, but worth every penny because you'll love your hair! I'm moving to Los Angeles and I told him I'd drive all the way to SD just to have him do my hair because it is so hard to find a good stylist! Thank you Dario and Shannon! THE MOST AMAZING SALON! 4/6/2008

First of all, I would like to thank Dario and Shannon for being so amazing. This salon is like no other- it's small, more personal, friendly, and relaxed. Every time I go in I feel welcome like I am going to visit old friends. Tray Dario's tea it's good :)\r Secondly the cuts and color are fantastic! I can here about a year and a half ago with a bad hair cut from another salon down the street. Dario helped me grow out my hair and get it to what I wanted! Every time I came in he gave me a great cut and spectacular color. I have never seen someone so attentive to detail. I was recommended to Dario from my best friend with extremely thick hair, and her hair looks fabulous every time! I have extremely thin hair, and it also looks fabulous every time showing that he works well with all hair types. And yesterday I got a really fun cut and color- showing that he can do all styles, classic and funky! I already have gotten dozens of compliments! \r I have been to a lot of salons and this definitely ranks the highest among them all! I have never stuck with a salon and I look forward to coming in in the future- Thanks Dario and Shannon! You both rock! Great customer service 3/22/2008

I went to Dario to fix a bad highlight and lowlight job that was done by a salon in PB. He did exactly what I wanted. I love my hair and I get so many compliments! The staff was great and very sociable and attentive. I highly recomend this salon to everyone! more

Excellent results and very professional. What a relief to finally find a salon that not only provides the very best no matter who you are, but also takes the time to inform you and give you a result that suits your lifestyle and your face. Horrible Service 3/9/2008

I went to Darios expecting a higher level of service. I was very specific about wanting a quick, dry cut. They said no problem. I told her several times not to wash my hair. She washed my hair anyways. I showed her a wig they had on display and told her I wanted the same cut. Instead of actually cutting my hair to that style she trimed my hair in the same style it was. I asked her not to dry my hair. She not only dried my hair but took out her curling iron and was so busy talking while doing this she burned my scalp! I screamed and pulled away from her. She didn't applogize. As I went to leave she had the nerve to ask me for a tip. I was in shock and so angry I paid and left. $54.00 for a bunch of stuff I didn't even ask for! I wrote to the management there and they responded saying I could come back for a free cut with the owner himself. I'd rather shave my head bald than walk back into that place! Pros: nothing Cons: didn't listen, didn't do what I paid for, burned me, over charged me more

I have gone to ""Dario Salon"" in La Jolla three times. The owner, Dario, is a soft-spoken elegant young man who has the skills and talents to transform a woman to feel and look beautiful! \r At my first appointment, I decided to be open-minded and allow Dario to use his creative talents to design a haircut and color to accomodate my features. I sensed Dario needed no direction from me and I sat back and watched in awe as he created the softest most feminine hairstyle and color! I am thrilled with the ""new"" me and feel young again at the age of 54!\r His salon is decorated with style and comfort. His staff is friendly, highly-trained and personable. One feels welcomed and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Terrific experience!! 2/20/2008

I cannot begin to tell you the number of bad to horrible hair disasters I have had. With each new and revolutionary way of cutting, I have suffered at the hands and scissors of so-called experts. I gave up and just let my hair grow out. A friend told me about a remarkably calm and unaffected stylist Dario. I marveled at my friend's new hair style-it was chic, sleek and truly brought out her fabulous features. Although I had sworn off another cut, her new hair style looked so good and she exuded a new confidence I had never seen before, I took the plunge and put my head in the hands of Dario. One of the best decisions of my life. I will not bore you with the details of my terrific experience. In a word, this gentle man ""got"" me and my hair. He is a zen master of the dry cut. He understood the complexities of my hair and my time constraints to get ready in the morning. Voila, I was transformed by the magic of his vision and his scissor expertise. The price?...I would gladly pay double because of the personal attention and the amount of time Dario devoted solely to me. I have paid much more for cuts that were total disasters. Dario is a genius with the scissors and a gem of a person. What a terrific experience.\r \r Pros: Shannon his colorist and their attention. Cons: Parking, but the staff take care of you. more

My favorite salon! 1/19/2008

I love this salon! Today was my second visit and I booked my next two visits. Dario, Shannon and Jamie are friendly and efficient. There is no drama from them - they want you to look your best and take the time to talk with you and tell you what they are doing. They don't push product, but will tell you what they feel is best for your hair. Call for an appointment - you will not be disappointed.\r \r A very satisified client, Pros: Great service, results are top of the line, wonderful experience Cons: Parking can be a bit tricky, but not that bad! more

Very Satisfied!! 11/14/2007

I went here on a whim purely on the basis of the reviews on Citysearch hoping that 18 other reviewers were not wrong. After discussing and thinking about my haircut and color, Dario gave me a cut that which has held up to my washing and self styling - I was very happy when I left. I'm very satisfied both with the cut and color and the salon in general. Service was courteous. more
