I recently purchased a half-gallon of milk with an expiration date over 2 months in the future. I usually check for an expiration date at least a few weeks out but I didn't realize just how far out this expiration date was until I got home. Darigold's packaging proudly states that this was accomplished through a ultra-homogenize-preserve-something-or-other process. Although, it just doesn't seem natural that a dairy product can supposedly stay fresh for over 2 months.
This was confirmed when I used the milk with a bowl of oatmeal. The resulting concoction had an odd flavor. Weird enough that I actually tossed it out and instead tried the milk with some cereal. Still no good. The end result is Darigold's attempt at forever fresh milk just doesn't work.
