If you're looking for NC Pickled Pork, then Dannys is not the place to go. However, if you're looking for BBQ that actually tastes like barbecue (smoky, hickory flavor and tender!) then Dannys is your spot. Other than Red Hot and Blue this is the only place in NC I've found that actually serves barbecue. more

Great for Low-Carb Diets! 11/5/2003

I am an Eastern NC-style bbq lover, born and bred. However, I appreciate the high quality and tastiness of Danny's meats. Try the delicious baby back ribs or sliced beef (the most tender I've ever had). Meat comes without sauce so you can avoid that hidden sugar, if you're watching those carb grams! Raw BBQ? 9/19/2003

I know it states in the menu that their BBQ is cooked differently and has a raw appearance, well pink color is fine, but raw taste is something else. I can honestly say their sauce was non impressive. The other food was good (corn, fries, ect.) The atmosphere was fine, reminds me of being back in Yadkin county. I had a hard time finishing the BBQ and have no intention of going back. I'll take Pig Pickin' over anything, but since I live here now East NC BBQ it is. Best BBQ in East NC 9/13/2003

I grew up near Lexington, NC. As such, Bar-B-Q has always been a flavorful experience. When I moved east, I was extremely disappointed by the awful ""sauce"" (vinegar and red pepper) that destroyed the natural flavor of the Bar-B-Q. Danny's is a refreshing change, much more reminiscent of the flavors I grew up with. I've tried each variety of bar-b-q I've been able to find, from Memphis to Texas to South and North Carolina. I've been going to Danny's for several years and have never been disappointed. The bar-b-que has that nice smoked flavor and is served without the vinegar and sauce so that you can doctor it the way YOU like it at the table. They offer a variety of sauces found at the tables from honey bar-b-que to hot & spicey. I have always had prompt, efficient service too, the food comes out within minutes of ordering. The restaurant is not a big one, so I'd recommend coming just before or just after the lunch rush (which is big on week days). And, it's not a fancy place, but then what NC bar-b-que joint is (Roadmonster)??! Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Inexpensive Cons: Can be Loud more

Home away from Home 1/15/2003

Danny's Bar B Que has the best smoked meats and sides ever. We have been going to Danny's since we moved to Cary in 1991 and this is where we bring our northern company. The service is fast, friendly and efficient. The restuarant is casual and comfortable. My hubby and I always order the same plate. I love the smoked chicken (the servings are large enough to take half the chicken home for lunch the next day) and my hubby loves the pork. We have had Danny cater picnics, weddings, etc. and the food is raved by all. Stay in there Danny we wouldn't know what to do without you. There is nothing not to like at Dannys. Have been eating there for years and it's wonderful. The turkey is the best although my boys love the pork and the husband loves the ribs, but whatever it is, its always wonderful..... Pros: inexpensive, great food, crowded more

Bestdangbabybacks & sauce 10/26/2002

Been eating BBQ all over the country since the Beatles hit the airways. Danny's babyback ribs & all their sauces are hard to beat. If you like HOT BBQ sauce, Danny's ranks as THE BEST ANYWHERE! And their babyback ribs are to die for...especially when you tell them to crisp them up. Actually, the proper lingo to use when ordering is to to tell the chef to ""burn 'em."" He'll know what to do. more

Hide the Hogs! Bad BBQ! 9/18/2002

The Cary location requires full demolition to achieve a proper remodel, and hopefully the meat with it. My guests and I found the ambience grimy, the food unremarkable and the service indifferent. I can't honestly say I've had worse BBQ anywhere. The owners need to locate new meat suppliers, IMHO. Pros: cold beer Cons: food, interior, location more

Best - Hands Down 7/22/2002

This is the best barbeque I have ever eaten. I am a North Carolina native and I love Danny's. The pork is fresh, you can choose your sauce. The slaw is wonderfull and i'll take texas toast over hushpuppies any day! Keep up the good work! more

The food here is great. they have excellant texas style barbeque and awesome spare ribs. It is very reasonable. Try the cole slaw and hushpuppies. Pros: inexpensive, good portions Cons: no atmosphere more
