Editorial review from Citysearch 8/16/2012

You guys provide great and caring healthcare. At the same time the worst possible phone intereaction with patients imaginable. I just waited 20 minutes for a representative to answer my call, an attempt to answer a simple question my doctor's asst. asked of me.\r Twenty minutes, to just to have someone make a 2 second call transfer.\r Also switchboard closes at 4:30 for the night, you cannot even leave a message after that, so you are rolled over to the following day and the torment begins again.\r Endless talk of ""new system,"" but its pretty much this way all the time. Dr. McClatchey, you've been at this long enough to know better. Allow callers with simple questions or answers to bypass the front desk., What's the big deal, you get voicemail anwyay, but at least a message gets delivered! more

Great Doctor Horrible Staff 12/16/2010

really like the Dr. Cody but the staff has a real tough attitude. Making an appointment sometimes requires two or 3 calls and even at that point they are certain you are the favored one. Dr. is amazing but the front office staff are terrible. more

Dr. William McCatchey and Physician Asst James Hunter Best Team in Town! 2/23/2009

I am so thankful that I am in the care of these two (2) wonderful medical professional's that I tell everyone about them. They treat you as though you are a personal friend or family member. I started going there over 15 years ago when Dr. Brawner was there and he was my primary care physician and James Hunter was is Physician Asst. When Dr. Brawner retired I choose Dr. William McCatchey because James would be working with him. I have referred several family members and neighbors to this office, and they all have the same wonderful experience. It is always good to know that when you are at your worse, someone cares enough to make you feel better. \r Thanks, Liz Thomas\r Pros: Good Old Fashion Medical Care - I Wish They Did House Calls. more

An Excellent Physician 1/8/2009

I went to Dr. Dannehl on the recommendation of several friends. I couldn't have made a better choice. He's everything you'd hope to find in a physician: he listens, he's compassionate, and can explain in simple terms his diagnosis and recommendations. If you're looking for a new doctor he's your man. Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable, and patient more

Pleasant Experience -- for a Doctor's Office Visit 1/2/2009

I have been going to the Piedmont Physician's Group for about four years. Very nice administrative staff. Doctors Dunlevie and McClatchey are personable and knowledgeable. They run on time and spend enough time with you to make you feel that their practice isn't a ""factory"". Only downside is having to go to Piedmont Hospital to see them. Parking isn't free and it's a zoo. Even with the parking mess, I highly recommend these two physicians. Pros: Very attentive, personalized care. On time; waiting time was minimal and within expectations Cons: Parking is a zoo -- and not free. more

Fantastic healthcare provider 12/5/2008

Dr. Dannehl is a fantastic Doctor. He is kind and caring but most importantly he is looking out for my health. I had some recent issues that prompted him to send me to a heart specialist and he has been great about working in partnership with that specialist to give me the VERY BEST care and options.\r I have been trusting him with my healthcare for 8+ years and highly recommend him. more

best doctors office 3/2/2008

I love this office! It reminds me of the days when doctors provided a service and not just a business. I have been taken care of in the best way everytime I I sow up. Pros: actual service is great Cons: front office needs a little more personality and professionalism more

Please go elsewhere 1/15/2008

I've been a patient of Dr. Dannehl's for a few years, but I've finally had enough. Although Dr. Dannehl is generally likable, he's incompetent. Here are two examples.\r \r I first saw Dr. Dannehl concerning some symptoms I'd been having in my esophagus. He correctly diagnosed my problem as acid reflux. However, he never asked me about my diet. He just basically had me get a needless barium X-ray, and then eventually prescribed me some expensive pills (Prilosec), which I'd be expected to take for the rest of my life. After doing some research, I discovered that pills such as Prilosec are a band-aid, not a cure. They do nothing to solve the real problem and in the long run can cause a lot of harm. Anyway, I stopped taking the pills. Then I changed my diet and eventually lowered my carbs, and now I rarely have problems with reflux. But Dr. Dannehl was of no help in diagnosing the real problem.\r \r A little over a year ago, I had some lab work done. Even though my glucose level was in the pre-diabetic range, Dr. Dannehl called it ""normal."" So, I had to do my own research and schedule another appointment with him. I pointed out that my glucose level was NOT normal and wanted further testing. He obliged, and the new results were the same. Guess what--he again called these results normal!!! He just told me to get a little more exercise, which was poor advice, because I was already getting a lot of exercise. After doing a lot more research (including paying for my own glucose meter), I discovered that my body cannot tolerate a lot of carbs, so I made some major adjustments. He gave me absolutely NO advice about lowering my carbs or changing my diet. If I'd listened to him, I would've probably ended up with diabetes in a few years. And then last month, I went back for another glucose test--and guess what? Even though they drew several vials, they forgot to test my glucose levels!!\r \r Please do yourself a favor and find another doctor who is competent. Pros: Has a generally likable personality Cons: Incompetent more

Great Doctor in Buckhead 11/29/2007

Dr. Dannehl is a fantastic doctor. He is currently my doctor and has been for the past two years. You will never be disappointed with his abilities. In an effort to keep this short...he listens. On top of that, he's interesting, knows a lot about movies, food (where to eat) and bike riding. If you need a doctor, even if you have one...he's the best I've met. \r \r Pros: The best possible medical experience more

Outstanding Internal Physician...... 7/1/2007

\r I met Karl Dannehl when he was referred by a specialist to oversee my mothers treatment, post operative Atrial Septal....(well, she had a hole in her heart from birth). After she passed away in 1998 I started seeing Karl once or twice a year for high cholesterol and abnormal liver readings probably dating from a bout of Dengue Fever I got while Orchid hunting in Central America.\r His kindness and thorough regimen has kept me in excellent physical condition ever since then. I had constant stomach and back problems. And though the back is a chronic condition I haven't had any stomach or related problems for years now. \r Whenever I go to the Groups offices I'm always treated, as well all the other patients in the waiting area, with professional and caring concern. I would recommend any of the doctors at Piedmont Physicians Group from the talk I've heard in the waiting area, but would guarantee positive results from Dr. Karl Dannehl. I can't begin to say enough good things about him. I just thank God that we have met and a wonderful doctor/patient relationship has developed. In closing all I can say is:\r THANK YOU DR. DANNEHL FOR BRINGING QUALITY BACK INTO MY LIFE............. Pros: Diligent and extremely friendly. Excellent knowledge Cons: Can't think of one.... more

A doctor that truly cares... 4/19/2007

Having seen Dr. W. Cody McClatchey for an initial visit/physical check-up, I was surprisingly and thoroughly impressed. I was on time and so were they, plus he truly took all the time needed to talk and answer any and all questions. Very approachable and easy to communicate with! I have finally found a primary care physician to stick with after over a decade living in Atlanta. Pros: absolutely zero waiting time...and I was early! Cons: parking not validated more

Great Doctor 3/13/2003

I moved to Atlanta in June of 2001 and I was very unimpressed with my first doctor. My company's insurance provider changed and I had to choose a new doctor. I was lucky enough to have pick Dr. Dannehl. He is a fantastic doctor and he does a great job listening and communicating with his clients. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new doctor for your everyday stuff. more

Enjoyable experience 5/19/2002

Started coming here on a recommendation from a friend. By far the nicest group of doctors I've ever visited. After my routine checkup, I received two personalized letters thanking me for choosing the medical group and urging me to contact the staff if I had any questions or issues. I would highly recommend this office to friends. more
