The Best Italian in the Area 11/28/2005

I'm from Queens, NY and I'm very picky about my Italian food. I've been here 3 years and eaten everywhere and Daniel's is at the top of my list. I typically only post reviews of restaurants after a bad experience... shame on me. So I figure I need to post a positive review. The restaurant doesn't look like they cater to kids, but this is my 7 year old son's favorite restaurant. The dishes I recommend are the Lasagna, Penne ala Vodka with Pancetta (amazing), veal marsala, calamari... I nor anyone I know who I've turned onto Daniel's has ever reported a bad meal and they have all been impressed. Zaccaniggni (spelling?) is a great mild chianti... try one. Enduring Quality 10/8/2005

Danny and Janet have been one of the pre-eminent restauranteurs in the triangle since The Pizza Pasta Cafe opened around the corner from me in Cary - The ala casa and ala vodka are the best ever. The wine list is sublime and Desserts are original, fresh and always recommended - when we end up in NC Daniels is always on the list of places to have dinner. My only complaint ""they"" took sambuccca tortellini off the menu! See you Sunday Pros: Great prices, awesome food, fun owners more

We love Daniels pasta dishes - very good and desserts we do NOT like the hostess staff - 2 of them hold their noses in the air and they in early 20's - so whats up with that??!! good food - decent service mostly - but not at the front door>>>>>>>> more

slightly over-rated 2/1/2005

We were told by several people that Daniels was the end-all-be-all of italian food in the triangle. I now question the judgement of some of our friends. Perhaps it is because they do not know any better. Daniels is good italian food in a very casual atmosphere. It is better than many others, but we will still be searching for out end-all-be-all italian restaurant. Also, the waitress seemed very annoyed to be working. Go ahead try it. Nicely appointed atmosphere coupled with experienced and professional waitstaff. This is REAL Italian food like Nana Cacciato used to make! I knew it from the moment I tasted their top notch marinara sauce served with their delicious breadsticks. Pros: real Italian, great service more

Amazing Experience 10/4/2004

All I can say is Wow! I have lived in the triangle for 12 years and am sad to say I only recently discovered Daniel's! The atmosphere, from the art on the wall to the corks in the tables, gives you a great feeling of warmth! The staff is very friendly and don't mind actually having conversations with you. Not What It Used To Be 9/25/2004

My husband and I used to frequent Daniel's at least twice a month. Our last two experiences left a lot to be desired. The food has gotten greasier and greasier. I couldn't even eat the last leftovers that I took home, the grease was so bad. These leftovers were from a dish I had to have remade because it wasn't cooked the first time, the ravioli was still hard. The dish was promptly replaced with very friendly service, but we weren't even offered a discount, or even a free dessert. This used to be by far the finest Italian, even if it was slightly pricey. Now, I'm sad to say, I'll be going to the Olive Garden for fine Italian food. How wrong. Pros: serving staff, reservations availabl Cons: , food not cooked more

Worth the Drive 6/15/2004

By far, the best Italian food in NC! I've been traveling the 40 minute (each way) commute from North Raleigh for ten years and every trip was definitely worth the drive! My favorites....Penne A La Casa and Mushroom Ravioli. Each dish is prepared fresh to order. Friends from Charlotte and Greenville also make the drive when they are in the Triangle area. Great Overall Resteraunt 1/4/2004

The food was great, service fantastic. Incredible selection of wine and beer. I definetly recomend it to anyone with any amount of taste.... And they have takeout too...Service is great and polite. Call ahead and your food is ready when you get there. Sometimes there is a line but what can you expect when the food is so good. The desserts are the best around. This is not a typical chain restaurant! Great dinner specials and a variety of food. Thought it was a shack from the outside, but a true gem on the inside. Overrated 11/15/2002

I always find it amusing to drive by this place and see that its packed or to hear someone say how good it is. I guess everyone in the area things its so good because there is such a lack of eating establishments in the Apex/Cary area. The food is ok, but you wait forever, you are pigeon holed into your table, and its expensive. more
