I've been going to Dr. Shea for 2 yrs. A few months ago, I developed a horrific knife-like pain on the left side of my upper and lower jaw, stemming from dry sinuses . I had worked the night shift (I'm a nurse) and as soon as his office opened, I walked in crying. The pain was unimaginable--worse than a migraine.
The assistant brought me back and assured me he would attend to my pain asap. She was very soothing.
I was crying almost hysterically from the pain, and I remember saying I didn't think I could take it another minute; so he came in the middle of a procedure to assess the problem and immediately gave me something to deaden the pain and gas. ( If anyone from his office reads this review, I know they'll remember me.)
While it took effect, he returned to his patient he'd stopped working on to administer the injections. I didn't care--I was grateful. Later, he returned to investigate the cause which he determined to be inflamed sinus cavities located in the jaw line, through X-rays.
I was numb for quite a few hours which allowed my jaws time to recover from having clenched them, which exacerbated the pain. It was fine after that visit, as I'd relaxed for several hours due to the relief.
I LOVE THIS MAN! He's such a compassionate and understanding dentist. He's also a short distance from my home in the Garden District, which was a life saver.
Can't say enough about this doc. He and his assistant put up with me in a most unpleasant state. They were respectful and prompt.
