Best

i'm not getting anything out of defending for this thai place, but i think what they gave you is Pad Woon Sen and not Yam Woon Sen, which is really what you were expected.

Worst

HAIRY MESS!!! Tonight was the last 2/9/2012

HAIRY MESS!!! Tonight was the last chance in a series of last chances. I've been going to this place for years and it has always been pretty average, but I have friends and family that overlook its many weaknesses (lousy and rude staff, weak and tasteless ""Thai"" cuisine, etc) because everywhere else around seems to be about as bad. However, tonight, both the appetizer and the main course that I was splitting with my niece had human hair in it. They actually tried to deny the hair in the main course, although there was no such denial about the appetizer. I was not surprised about how they handled the situation (badly) and how rude they were, which is typical. This place being in business just shows how few options there are in this part of town, unless a person wants to eat bar food in some dive bar surrounded by drunks. After our latest gross and disgusting experience at Dang's, I'd say that the bar food and the drunks are sounding like a much more pleasant experience. This place needs a good, thorough health inspection, followed by a change of management and a lengthy steam cleaning. more

Not a ""suburban standout"" 4/9/2010

As much as we enjoyed dining at this Lake Oswego restaurant, we don't like their shady tactics. To attract patrons to their establishment, in 2009, the Dang's Thai Kitchen owner signed up w/ the website restaurant:com which offers dining certificates at a discounted price, good for 1 year. Shortly thereafter, following publication of the 2009 Diner ""Suburban Standout of the Year"" article, Dang's posted signs on their doors exhibiting their refusal to honor any of the certificates previously purchased, effective 6/13. These certificates, each with an expiration date, were paid for and thus are a ""contract,"" and so should, by law, be honored. Restaurant:com has indicated that their certificates may become void if an establishment closes or moves or is sold, but Dang's chose to shun their responsibility to both restaurant:com, as well as to those who supported their restaurant, to accept the certificates through their expiration dates - all in the name of greed. We know many people who experienced the same shut-out. In our book, the restaurant definitely is no longer a suburban standout. Cons: Poor management more

Its...okay 1/1/2010

The food here is okay. Don't go here if you are in a hurry as the service is limited. We waited about 10-15 minutes to give drink orders, another 15-20 minutes for appetizers, and another 15 minutes after we finished apps for dinner. The food wasn't bad and presentation was good. Pros: Good selection, convenient. Cons: Service more

nice restaurant with some good dishes, but the service is no 9/15/2009

I've been there three times now and I love their Pad Gra Praw, Tom Yam, Tom Kha soup, and yum seafood. I like how they decorate their place. However, some staffs didn't smile or cared much about me. The tall waitor looked unhappy the whole time I was there. Pros: location, good setting, some good dishes Cons: unfriendly service more

Used to enjoy Dang's 8/7/2009

Went to dinner for the last time last night. Pros: Good salad rolls Cons: Service more

Good food, terrible service!! 5/13/2009

I have been to Dang's three times. The first time was excellent all the way around. The last two times were less than stellar. The second time we went was for my birthday. We had a party of eight, so we called ahead and made a reservation. They told us they'd hold our table until 6:30. We got there at 6:15 and they had given our table away! We had to wait 40 minutes with two little kids for a table. There was no apology or compensation or anything!! The next time we went was two weeks later with another set of friends. We had 4 children under the age of 3. We were seated right away (again we had a reservation, which was honored this time!). However, we sat at our table for over an hour before one of the two appetizers we had ordered arrived. We sat for 20 more minutes waiting for our other appetizer. (The family we were with is vegetarian, and the appetizer that came first was chicken, so our friends had nothing to eat!). No one ever came by and said what was taking so long, no one brought the drinks we had ordered, no one even brought so much as a grain of rice to our hungry kids!! We were finally so disgusted we left! No one even noticed all 8 of us walking from the back of the restaurant all the way through and leaving. So frustrating and rude!! I would love to go back because the food is so good, however, I will not be going back because of the horrible service. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone because of the service, and that is the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars. Pros: Excellent fresh food, very flavorful Cons: Service is EXTREMELY slow and disorganized more

They don't know what Thai food is 11/22/2008

Let's not even bother to talk about how bad the service is and let's talk about what you get when you finally get to order. I ordered yam woon sen which as anyone who has eaten in a thai restaurant is a a salad with more

Reminds me of Thailand 9/29/2008

Big parking lot easy Parking , First you get the smells in the Parking lot , then it intensifies isn side, smells of thailand, with aroma of Coconut, Lemon grass, Kaffir leaves and Basil. The inside is set with a modern deco, easy on the eyes, the food was exelent. the curry tased of real Home coked curry, and the stirfry was fresh and crisp. reminded me of , Vision of our Visit to Phuket , Pattaya and Bangkok. 2 of us ate for $24 Green backs. we were stufed and verry happy . with leftovers for the next days lunch. and the service was verry good, go light on the spice 1 or 2 chillys. you can always add more from the condoment tray. this is our new favorit Thai food eatery. and they will be seeing a lot more of us. more

Delightful Thai Dining Experience 9/6/2008

What a surprise we found when we recently visited Dang's in Lake Oswego. We ordered 2 entrees, both of which were delcious. Our general experience with menu items in many Thai restaurants is that they tend to be monotonous--one basic flavor regardless of which item you order. But at Dang's, the ingredients were so fresh, so lovely, the seasonings were delightful with layer upon layer of subtle flavors that all enhanced each other instead of fighting with each other. Pros: NOT 'Your Mother's Thai food' restaurant--subtle, fresh, beautiful. Easy parking. Cons: Service could be a little faster, more attentive. more

Fantastic Food! 7/30/2008

So I consider myself a Thai food junkie and this place definitely is at the top of my list - and believe me, I've been to a lot of places. The food here is particularly fantastic and the selection is broad and interesting. Unlike other thai places, the dishes here are nuanced, flavorful, and fresh. Don't be afraid to try something new! I tried the kow soy on the recommendation of my server and it's now my favorite dish. Also, like authentic thai places the food is nice and spicy - so if you don't like spicy food be sure to request ""mild."" I think this place has only been open for a little over a year, but it already gets pretty busy in the evenings. I recommend lunch time when there's less of a crowd, the service quicker, and the prices cheaper. Pros: Selection, Flavor, Ample Parking Cons: sometimes spotty service more

Good food but disappointing service 5/11/2008

The two times that I have been to Dang's the food has been fresh, very tasty and nicely presented. Unfortunately the service on my second visit to Dang's was horrible. The staff was pleasant enough, but once our server took our order we never heard from him again. Pros: fresh and flavorful food Cons: poor service more

Avoid this restaurant! 3/5/2008

The atmosphere is nice, but the food is not that great! Overpriced and tons of MSG. I've been to much better thai restaurants, and pay a lot less. I don't know how this restaurant survives in Lake Oswego. We want quality! I would definitely NOT go here again. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Terrible Food. Outside area not clean. more

Something different in a sea of ""thai"" resturants 2/20/2008

I'm constantly discouraged by the McThai Pad Thai resturants here and the sheep who flock to them ordering pad thai every stinking time. Pros: one of only two places offering kow soy and ""goong haeng"" for som tom Cons: somewhat americanized, but not too bad more

Absolutely the best Thai restaurant in the Portland area 1/17/2008

Best Thai restaurant I have ever found! They are fast, friendly, extremely clean, and offer plenty of different selections. Every time I go (at least once a week) I try something different and have never been disappointed. The veggies are fresh, the fish is moist, the chicken is lean, and the service is amazing. I highly recommend the Thai ice tea, Pad Thai, Chicken with Yellow Curry, Stuffed Calamari, and Salad Rolls with Shrimp. Pros: Service, food quality, prices more

Amazing food and great to go service 12/20/2007

When I called in to go the server answering the call was fast and very helpful. He told me just what I need to know and he gave me great suggestions on food. He suggested the Pad Thai noodles and they were divine. When I walked in to pick my order the ambiance was great and the cashier was really nice. Pros: Food, Parking, Service Cons: Slow when busy more

Netirat 12/18/2007

This place is a culinary delight. While you are having your meal, you are already thinking about your next visit. Authentic Thai dishes are presented elegantly from Pad Thai to different curries. Crab fired rice is outstanding and spicy beef salad is divine. Dang, owner chef and his lovely wife bring to the eatery the charm and hospitality of Chiangmai from Northern Thailand. This could be the best Thai restaurant in Portland Metro. Pros: Abundant parking Cons: Need more wine selections more
