Dang Geun (meaning carrot in Korean) Cafe is a very Korean bar. The owner is Korean and is not fluent in English, however, a very generous person who interacts a lot with the customers. Most of the customers are regulars who visit the establishment over and over again, attracted by the cozy atmosphere and the friendship that they built with the owner with time. The beer selection is not very diverse since they only serve Coors Light, Miller Lite, MGD, Corona, Heineken. They have major whiskies: Jack Daniel, Johnny Walker, etc.. They also serve Soju (Korean drink that WILL get you drunk). The highlight of the bar is the food that is served along with the drinks. Price range for the food is anywhere from $3 to $20. The owner cooks it himself and the food is fantastic. Try the fried chicken. It is very unique and does not taste like the franchise fried chicken or local fried chicken shops. They also have large pot stew called boodae jjigae which are spicy and filled with meat, ham, and spam. Overall, it might be a bit distant for non-Korean customers, but definitely an interesting experience to see drinking culture that is very different from the Western.
